Hi all and thank you for all the comments and advice. To try and make it simple I am not going to give a lot of background but keep to the facts. I arrived here on January 30 with Visa on entry. I extended for 30 days and then got an extension supporting letter from the British Embassy.

Long story short, I went to Hua Hin Immigration yesterday and was informed I needed a number of supplementary documents and I returned to the office of the company where I am renting a Villa and went back. The staff there were great and checked all the documents and gave me a que number. When I went up stairs I was told only 7 days until she saw the Embassy letter but it turned out that I was missing the copy of the blue book for the lessors home.

I returned again today with exactly the documents that were required and the staff downstairs checked them and told me everything was ok. However, when I saw the officer I was refused on 2 grounds. 1) The embassy letter was not signed but The British Embassy told me. when I queried this when I first received the letter that this was not a requirement. 2) The owners name was not on the Blue Book but I have been informed it never is!

This is not a whinge and I fully understand that everyone is under a great deal of pressure at the moment but just a heads up for people that might need to make the same application.

One further question, I am over 50 and have a villa being built with completion in about 3 to 4 months. I have the funds to deposit to get a residents visa. Is this a possible option?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently faced issues while applying for a visa extension in Hua Hin, Thailand, and was denied due to an unsigned embassy letter and missing document details. They seek advice regarding the conversion to a Non-O visa as they are over 50 and have the funds needed for a resident visa.

I have placed the TOPIC CONVERT VISA EXEMPT TO NON O... ..on your post.

Yes you may be able to get the so called retirement ...ask your immigration office for their list of steps and requirements to do it.

Basically you will need to convert your current status to a Non O then Extension of Stay for those age 50+. Hopefully your immigration does this. Some do some do not.

Many thanks James, I suggest that you can close this thread. The Primary purpose of the initial post was to give people, especially receiving letters from the British Embassy of the problems they may encounter in Hua Hin and to get some advise on a Retirement Visa that I now have good advice on. Thanks guys.

I do not have a home in the UK, my home is in China and has been for 10 years, but now all Visas, including residents visas, are temporarily revoked. And I have provided all the documents but I still have to work my way through the system.

Provide immigration with requested documents to get up to 30 days extension.

Enough time to get confirmed ticket home.

Embassies are now assisting with scheduling of repatriation flights home.

You where in the office, best way to get the correct information is directly ask if they are able to convert your under consideration stamp into a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years of age.

I have a friend that is in the same compound that can now supply all the required documents so that side is sorted. All I need is the updated letter from the Embassy. Many thanks for the heads up on the O Visa. I really do appreciate all the time and effort you guys are putting in to support the brainless amongst us. MYSELF INCLUDED.

Hi Robert, many thanks for the quick response. I have already emailed the British Embassy asking for a signed letter. I am somewhat bemused as to why they did not understand that this was a requirement but we live in interesting times.

1, the Embassy letter must be signed and stamped as far as I knows.

2. Thai people are always mentioned in the blue book, if your owner is not mentioned simply means he/she is a foreigner and you need also a copy of the chanote (ownership document)
