Good Morning,

Just an update .

(and a Thank you to Todd and the rest for assisting with answers to questions)

Received my one year "extension " to my A-O Visa yesterday at the Suratthani Office. 1900 Baht

The ladies were very helpful, and virtually no Que.(I arrived just after noon, and waited for the lunch break)

they did not need the multiple copies of my passport, just the main page, VISA page, and TM-6 page.

nor was the Medical report, nor police report requested.

They did take a Map (I traced from google Earth) and a Photo, of my rental house.

I still had 41 days remaining on the single entry (90 day) .

The extension covered 365 days.(Beginning at the end of the original 90 day single entry)

after that was done, I went to a second agent to process the Multiple entry, 3800 baht

There too, she was very helpful, (a Photo was added to the application) (blue background)>

Done (total time) in under 2 hours (including the lunch break)

Based on Retirement, the Letter from US Embassy (original) are accepted for up to 6 months from notarized date.

Thanks again,

It was easy, as all documents were in my possession.

TM-7, rental agreement, copy of landlords ID card front and back and signed, passport copies (mentioned above) map, house Photo, and financial statement.

She did request to see my bank book, but was satisfied

when it was explained that I only withdraw $$ as needed and shown the copies of the ATM Receipts .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully extended their Non-O Visa for one year at the Suratthani Office without needing a medical or police report. Required documents included a map and photo of their rental house, passport copies, and a financial statement. They also processed a multiple-entry extension, completing both tasks in under two hours. Community comments clarified that a medical certificate and police report are not necessary for extensions based on retirement if done within Thailand.

Yep, you don't need a medical certificate OR a police report to get a year extension based on being over 50 (retirement) inside the country. Those are only required at a thai consulate in your country if you are getting a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa.

It sounds like you never had an O-A visa anyway, seeing as you say you had 41 days left on your 90 day entry. That leads me to believe you had only a Non-O visa (not one with an A after it) ;)

Still glad it worked out. (y) Thanx for the update

Scott Gouker thank you for your report, Surat Thani immigrations is also my office in charge. Nice to know your experience. Wasn't that easy before to get the TM30 signed there but I agree they are nice and the visa counter is empty as they mostly deal with WP for other Asian people. Anyway I will do " O-A" visa now here at Berlin and later my 90 day reporting there. - congrats to you, well done.

@Sc***
, some places want a hand drawn map and won't even take a google printed one :O

Again, good job, you're set for a year.

Make sure if you're in country in 90 days you file your 90 day report :)

yeah, just the single entry that I got in Penang.

The map and Photo were a "heads up" from a friend, apparently it's a new thing.
