More info on applying for an extension to a Non B visa...
On Robert’s advice I am at immigration to find out what documents are needed. Not sure why this information isn’t available online.
Turns out the list is far more extensive than if I were to apply for another b visa outside the country. And many items would not be easy or quick to get hold of. Plus the English translation is poor, making it difficult to understand. No one here seems to speak English so asking for any explanation of what some of the required docs are, is impossible.
The date by which you have to apply is not before the expiry of your current visa but before the date of your 90 days since last entry. Which means I have even less time to get all the required documents but that’s on me obviously, should have looked into it earlier.
I will have to apply for a renewal in Myanmar this coming week, rather than an extension this year.
If you are also on a non B and want to extend rather than renew you can view the list of required documents here. You will also need a recent 4x6 passport photo.

The author mentions that they have to apply for a renewal in Myanmar instead and provides insights into the timeline for application. Comments from other users highlight additional requirements such as providing utility bills and raise concerns about anecdotal documents requested at immigration.
