Hello. Has anyone applied for Volunteer visa before. I will begin to teach in Village schools in Chiang Mai by next week. Currently having tourist Visa extended by 30 days. Immigration office told me come before 25th March and you may apply for 60 days Covid extension. But i would like to consider and compare 90 days Volunteer visa as well. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about applying for a Volunteer visa to teach at village schools in Chiang Mai, while currently on a tourist visa that has been extended. Comments advise that teaching constitutes work and cannot be conducted on a tourist visa, which is illegal. It is recommended that the user obtain a Non-B or Non-O Visa specifically for volunteering, emphasizing the need for official documentation from the organization or schools they will be working with to secure the appropriate visa and work permit.

Yasemen Kurttas. If you're teaching on a volunteer basis you can get a non-O volunteer visa but will still require a work permit. The school/foundation you are volunteering through can help you with the process
Teaching is work. You cannot work on a tourist visa/extension, it is illegal (even unpaid work/volunteering). You need to get a work permit to work, which you can get either under a Non-B or I believe you can also get under a Non-O Volunteer.
You will need the support and a lot of paperwork from the organization you are volunteering with, it's not something you can just do yourself.
