My friend has been retired as a teacher because his cshool does not employ teachers over 65.
He is currently on a B visa with WP. He plans to change to a non-imm O Thai wife. What he would like to know is 1) can he work on this visa type and 2) if so, are there any restrictions on what he can work as?
He is hoping to do part time teaching/

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if their friend, who plans to switch from a B visa with a work permit to a Non-O visa due to marriage to a Thai national, can work on the new visa and if any work restrictions apply. Comments suggest that the friend's current visa situation may be based on employment rather than a typical visa, and transitioning to a Non-O visa for marriage could allow him to work part-time, contingent upon obtaining a new work permit.

i would bet he's not on ANY visa at all and instead on a yearly extension based on employment.
IF that's the case he doesn't need to switch to any Non-O visa either.
All he's doing is changing the reason for his extension from one based on employment to one based on marriage to a thai.
He'd get documents from the MOL showing he cancelled his work permit, documents from his employer stating he stops work on xx date, go to the immigration office cancel his current extension and then immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on marriage to a thai by meeting the financial requirements and turning in the correct documents. He'll pay 1900baht get a 30 day under consideration stamp and then when that runs down he goes back and gets the year extension inked in
He CAN legally hold a work permit on a year extension based on marriage, so IF he finds another job that'd be between him, them and the MOL to get it issued
, thank you very much. TBH I do not know if he's on a visa or extension, but as he's been employed by the same school for a long tine it's a fair bet it is an ext.
