Following up questions about change jobs in thailand:

my husband currently holds a non b visa 1 year extension working for a company in BKK, valids till 18th oct. Me, holdin Non-o related to it. He is trying to change his work to a company in Koh samui as soon as possible. we are dealing with 2 lawyers now ,one in bkk represents the current company, another one in samui ,represents the new company. there is some confusion and confliction, would like to have your advices.

-can he cancel work permit in bangkok, and apply new work permit on the same day in koh samui, to avoid to go out of thailand

-do we both need to cancel our current visa extensions? as bangkok lawyers are asking us to cancel the visas at the same time as cancel the work permit. But lawyers in koh samui ask us not to cancel the visa, only the work permit, due to language barriers , we could not get explainations of this. what should we do? cancel the visa or only cancel the work permit?

-it sounds extremely stressful situatuion for us. if the 2 lawyers can't coordinate their work about "the same day" . what will happen to us? as technically , we will be risking over stay.

-we can consider to go back to France, and apply all over again, but apparently the WP31 in samui require 1 month to obtain, and it can only be applied when the current work permit is cancelled, so we will be facing to stuck in france at least 1 -1.5 months . but would this be a better solution?

thank you in advance if you can share your insights and advices with us.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple is navigating the complexities of changing jobs in Thailand. The husband holds a Non-B visa and wants to transfer his work from Bangkok to Koh Samui. They are confused about whether to cancel both their work permits and visa extensions simultaneously, as conflicting advice has been received from their lawyers in both locations. They are concerned about the risk of overstaying if the lawyers can't coordinate their actions and are also considering the option of returning to France to apply anew for a work permit.

Keep in mind that if you cancel the visa in Bangkok, you might have problems flying to Samui. As soon as your visa was canceled you are supposed to leave the country. This could be why the law firm in Samui is advising not canceling it in Bangkok. You could easily end up on overstay, with a fine, and a mark on your record.
