Hello everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the Thai DTV (remote work) visa through the Los Angeles embassy and had a couple of questions, hoping someone here might have experience with this.

1. I’m planning to transfer about $17,000 into a savings account that currently only has a few hundred dollars in it. I’d like to apply for the visa ASAP, but I’m unsure if that balance needs to sit for around 3 months first, or if it’s okay to apply in 1–2 months even though prior statements will show the low balance.

2. For employment verification, will my original offer letter stating that my role is remote be sufficient, or do they usually require a more recent letter from my employer confirming I’m a remote worker?

Any additional tips or insight, especially from anyone who applied through the LA office would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for the Thai DTV visa through the Los Angeles embassy. They are concerned about the required bank balance duration and whether their employment verification letter is sufficient. Comments from others suggest that the Thai Consulate typically requests a bank statement showing 3 months of funds, although some have been successful with just one month. Recommendations include obtaining a detailed letter from the employer about remote work and utilizing the resources available on the Thai Consulate's website.

It would be sensible to get a letter from your employer stating not only that you can work remotely but that you can work remotely from Thailand, it should also state your work won't involve any interaction with Thai entities or clients based in Thailand

So I’ve done some research and LA consulate can be stricter on the wording of your remote work letter. I see that Manila and Jakarta consulate is much more relaxed when it comes to that, so I may fly to Manila and apply from there since I have a few friends that have been successful getting the DTV from there.

Appreciate the heads up on this.

I doubt my employer will write a letter specifically stating I can work internationally.

not internationally, specifically from Thailand. If they won't right such a letter you may well not get a DTV

i applied from Bali and only had a letter saying i worked remotely, was approved no problem. Many other reports on here of others who did not specifically mention where they’re allowed to work and they were approved

Anonymous participant 383 and many reports of people being asked to. It's much more likely to be asked if you work for a company in my view

Yes, in the Netherlands they asked me for a letter like that and I also know people in Spain who got asked for a letter from the employer (stating specifically that they can work from Thailand).

LA Consulate asks for 3 months, I emailed them and got confirmation from them directly however some people in this group last year said they had success with just showing one month bank statement. I did soft power so I can't speak to the employment part.
