How Can I Apply for a One-Year Extension of Stay Based on Marriage to a Thai National?

Good evening folks,

I'm currently on an 'extension of stay family visit' which expires on the 29th May.

I would like to apply for a long term extension of stay 1 year based on married to a Thai national.

I have proof of funds from the 30th March in my Thai bank account. If I include the 30th March and the 29th May I'm counting 61 days altogether. Does that count as two months ? (i.e worried they might count the days date to the same days date two months later e.g 30th Mar - 30th May.)

I will probably go out to Chaeng Wattana this week to get an up to date list of the paper work needed if we can't find it on immigration's website or elsewhere.

Is it just a case of going to immigration on the 28th or 29th May with all the paperwork, and will it be processed the same day ?

Thank you very much in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on applying for a long-term extension of stay based on being married to a Thai citizen. They are currently on a family visit extension that ends on 29th May and have been asked whether having funds in their Thai bank account since 30th March will count as fulfilling the two-month requirement for the application. They plan to visit the immigration office to gather information about the process and required documents. Community comments suggest confirming the requirements directly at the immigration office and keeping the funds in the account until after the under consideration period before applying.

Okay, the way the seasoning of funds works IS

you need the money in the bank two MONTHS <- that's date to date, so if your money went in the 30 of march the SOONEST you could apply for the year extension is the 30th of May .

Also when you apply for a yearly extension based on marriage you will get a 30 day under consideration stamp and go back on that date to get the year extension inked in

Chaengwattana will tell you to leave the money in the account UNTIL you come back after the under consideration period expires and to update your bank book and make a copy of it when you return.

. I had a feeling that was the case when I got a year extension based on marriage a few year ago. My current stamp will expire on the 29th, so one day short unfortunately.

On our last visit my wife was told by the IO that I could get another 60 day visit family extension after this first one expires on the 29th May. The IO actually said it's possible to do many 60 day visit family extensions in one year.

We are going out this afternoon to confirm that and get the newest list for the documents required for the years extension of stay based on marriage. I'll update how it goes and I can post the list if it might be useful to anyone trying to do the same at Chaneg Wattana in the near future. Thanks again

. Any idea if when I go to get the 1 year stamped in my passport if I need to show the funds are still in my account ? I'd rather hold minimal currency in Thai baht at the moment with the current situation. I guess I can ask this when we visit immigration anyway. Thanks again for all your help with this query and previous ones. Stay safe

Go out this week and ask the hand out with the latest requirements, you will not find that list on internet.

Brink your bankbook and ask directly how they see the 2 months and you have directly the answer.

The procedure is you apply, all goes 1 month under consideration and during this month you might get a visit at home, and on the last day of the stamp you visit Immigration again to get the rest of the 1 year stamped in your passport.
