if it seems too good to be true as a way of getting around immigration requirements then it is. If discovered, you could be deported and banned. They cracked down on some agents and those who used them last year. They will be cracking down on corruption more. Just follow the requirements and do it yourself, it isnโt difficult to do yourself.

New government vowing to end corruption? ๐คฃ
That means 90% of all government officials including police will be dismissed.
What are you a Scaremonger ? give me evidence of those crackdowns to justify your weak statement if every agency was prosecuted and every farang jailed and deported it would not only take years to complete and it would make World headline news โฆ. Waiting ๐ด๐ด๐ด
we all know this. Smart move as long as you don't have 800k tied up in a bank when it can easily be providing you 40-64k baht per year interest/dividends/gains. Then it's not smart at all
Retirement visa with an Agent who takes care of your 800,000 requirement is 25,000 Bhat single entry. Plus 4000 more for multiple. Thatโs the best deal youโll find here. It will get you 15 months. Then on renewal itโs 12,000 + 4000. Thatโs the system down here. Worth every penny.
Itโs funny I felt exactly the same ยฃ20k in a Thai bank account โฆโฆnooooo then popped ยฃ25k in as the bhatt improved 10% for spending money over the year and everyone thinks we are skint as we donโt want to keep 800k in a Thai account originally easy ยฃ2500 when inflation rocking in the UK ๐๐ฅ

One recommendation I would make is to make sure the Visa agent speaks good English as well as has good experience with Thai visa requirements. I have visited several apparently serious Visa agents in Bangkok (to make copies and take passport photos) and overheard their attempts to help foreigners. It's beyond me how some of them are able to do that successfully, hardly speaking any English. Personally (as a Norwegian), I used a Norwegian agent for both 3 months visa, retirement visa and local marriage and that worked very well with no problems. It was
good luck ๐๐. Where I live (close to a VFS Global office) I see these companies come and go rather quickly. I think the clue is to find an established agent (you can trust), and one that have both Thai and non-Thai employees so they can handle the communication and understand both sides of the process well.
How do you plan on getting around the Thai rules? Just curious. I too am looking into retirement in Thailand and assume I should follow the law of the land.
nope, actually another lie from you. And it makes no sense. I insist (and now after much prompting-even you have been able to admit) that the use of agents are legal. And the stamp is very much legal. I'm happy to have started the learning and education process for you. Much work to do and after 15 years lazing around thailand, one would think you would have learned much earlier. Ur welcome
, I don't believe you are that stupid that you don't know what is going on when you pay agents high amounts of money to make basic requirements for getting a visa in question disappear? Do you really believe this is because those agents know a secret rule stating that if you pay a special fee to the IM, then you suddenly don't need to show 800k for a retirement visa? The stamp is genuine but obtained illegally. The moment the Immigration Bureau decides to run against the next type of visa and dig into the archives, then you are facing problems. But yes, as you arrived yesterday in Thailand, you don't know what has been going on here until yesterday. When I first time came to Thailand I was told that you just go to IM with 10,000 THB inside your passport and they just ask which kind of visa you wanted. That doesn't work any longer. Now it has become much more expensive...
I don't believe you are stupid enough to believe your own weak assessment of the law in thailand is worth a thing. It's not. The 'moment Immigration Bureau starts to dig into the archives ' lol? Are you for real man? I think you mentioned being here for 15 years already (thanks to your wife). How much 'archive digging' have you encountered so far? None is the correct answer. And the amount of trouble for the individual whom has the FULLY LEGAL visa stamp is exactly zero.... again, ur welcome for the reality check. Are you aware that the driving of a motorcycle in Thailand without a helmet is against the law? Have you noticed anybody riding without a helmet in the last 15 years?
I think what he means is yes the Agents are legit and the visa stamp is legit but the financial requirements were skirted. But hey whatever works and saves money in the long run.
, ok, maybe you have heard about the Immigration Bureau currently running a campaign against bogus ED and Voluntary Visas? The Elite Visa Office has announced that if you have those visas in the past and do not provide evidence that the visas were obtained legally, then you will not only be denied the Elite Visa they will not either pay back the (huge) fee. More and more reports from people applying for other visas as well. In the best case, you are naive to the extent that the Immigration Police don't accept it as an excuse. You simply have no clue of how things work in Thailand. But I guess you are in Thailand because here it is easier to bribe your way ahead. When you are expelled from Thailand, then you just move to a more corrupt country. But you don't have to try to fool everyone to do stupid as you do. Some of us have genuine reasons to stay in Thailand.
my goodness. Another oddly misplaced diatribe about bogus education and volunteer visas lol. Sort yourself out. Nothing at all to do with this post. I'm in thailand because it's a great place to live, great weather, gorgeous beaches, high quality of life and easy to get the visa for anyone with a little income over 50. But, unlike you, i have lots of great options outside of thailand also. Elite visa..... just pay your money. You will search long and hard for anyone denied for any reasons
, are you really that stupid that you have no clue what is going on in Thailand? Two years ago you would have told everybody that bogus EB or Voluntary Visas are just the way to go and they will never ever look into the archive, right, because the stamp was genuine? Your idea about Thailand is that money makes everything legal and no one will ever care. Then why don't you just advise ppl to go IM and offer them 10.000 THB to fix their retirement visa? Why get an agent for that?

Waiting for some coherent thought and critical thinking from you. I'm not sure you should be advocating bribing officials here to me or anyone else. Makes you sound very foolish indeed. I don't need the 800k... and your wife obviously helps you sort it out too. Good for us
, come on, don't be a chicken. Go to the IM tomorrow and ask what is the price for getting rid of the 800k requirement for a retirement visa. Until then just shut up yourself instead of asking others.

I have proven my case. Neither use of agent nor the stamp you receive in your passport is legal. And assisted you with much needed education. Now beat it and ask your wife when she needs to take you to immigration next. Call us when you sober up or educate yourself
, pls. try to help the OP here to find a cheap solution. If it is legal to pay the IM to "forget" key requirements, then why not just go to IM and ask them if 10.000 THB is the price to forget the 800k requirement? Remember to video-record it. Hopefully, for you, they will just laugh at you and not arrest you for trying to bribe the police officer. But you clearly turn out to be the kinda guy who won't listen but needs to do your own hard experience. Waiting for your video.
, please, try to go to IM and ask them if they can fix your retirement visa against 10.000 THB. Please post the video here. That is surely gonna be funny.
then do it whatever way you think is legal. The best gift you get is getting out of the wintery hell hole that is present day Canada. Much easier and less costly living here. With far higher quality of life and lower taxes. Enjoy!!! It's a massive upgrade on your life
Always follow the rules of the land but occasionally one might need a little help to bypass certain obstacles itโs a fact of life here and everyone is involved from the very Top to the very Bottom of officialdom
Wow! You're going to be a real asset to the country. Are there any other laws you're planning on breaking or will it just be the ones concerning immigration?
, if you do not comply with the requirements, then you basically just sit and wait for the next campaign from the Immigration Bureau against fake visas... It is your choice but pls. do understand what risk you are taking.
, who is patronizing you? We are currently seeing ppl. who have ED and Voluntary visas (in the past) being denied any kind of visa if they cannot prove the visas were genuine. Maybe you dont want this to happen to you in the future? But if you dont care, then your choice.
yes, im part of the system that understands how many, many countries work. Itโs like this is your first year outside of Europe. And clearly the only country you have attempted to live in. Agents are fully legal. The stamps fully legal. So why are the likes of you always on here lying to people?
, you are full of never-ending BS. Get a life. I have been living in Thailand for 15 years. I have been around the world to more countries than you can only dream of. Agents are fully legal as long as they do not carry out services not legal. That is how it is all over the world - also in Thailand. If you ask an agent to do illegal services for you, then you will face obstacles in the long run. Things have changed a lot in Thailand while I have been here. Ppl are facing problems now that no one would ever have imagined just a few years ago. Ppl were paying agents for massive overstays and then suddenly 5 years later denied entry when arriving in Thailand. The agents are still advertising for bogus ED visas even though it should be very clear by now it is likely to cause problems in the short term also. You keep encouraging ppl to use this system of corruption and bribery even though you should know better unless you are only talking about yourself just arrived yesterday in Thailand and know nothing about the world outside Europe.
who gives a shit if you have been living here for 500 years. It's not exactly complicated is it? And particularly not if (like you) you are riding your wife's coattails. You clearly haven't learned a thing. Why is that?? Why come on here and consistently lie to people about illegality. You help nobody. Educate yourself. Yup - agents are legal. Good boy. Wasn't so hard to admit was it? All over the world?? You don't know a damn thing about anywhere but thailand, so again, shut up. The rest of your comments are completely irrelevant and nothing to do with the actual question.
, honestly, why do you keep on day after day with all your BS? Do I really have to block you to get rid of your never-ending BS? You are the one lying about bribery being legal in Thailand. It is NOT. You can choose to do it if you like and are ready to face the problems of doing so sooner or later. If those agents are smart, then they let you sign a disclaimer stating that whatever they are doing for you is your responsibility. That is quite normal in Thailand. Honestly, what do you gain from promoting bribery?
