Get the bank account first, then go to immigration and get the list of docs you will need. If you were stamped in on a visa exempt, you probably need to extend that, then submit your paperwork to start the non-o retirement. Do as the suggestion from @Lyn***

If you are prepared to put 800k in a Thai bank account, you'll be paying an agent for mostly old rope. The only real challenge is opening a bank account as a tourist, perhaps use an agent for that, do the rest yourself.
