What are the best visa options for a 6-month stay in Thailand after changes at the Sydney consulate?

I just started to apply for this years Non O 90 day double entry and found as of march 19th all has changed at the sydney consulate,,,now its E Visa,,,not a 90 day Non O double entry in sight,,,any best suggestions welcome for a 6mth stay?,,,I have family in thailand,,,usually only stay the 6mths,,,,is there a multiple entry tousist visa available that will achieve my needs,perhaps with extensions,,,consulate website not working properly….i noticed a family stay visa vaguely indicating “more than 60day stay”and 400,000baht bank deposit.Sounds like the marriage visa,,,didnt want to go through that again.

Any ideas?

Multiple entry tourist visa will give you 6 months with a border bounce or two. Or you could get a 90 day non-o and a further 60 days family visit extension at immigration giving 5 months. Then a border bounce for 30 day visa exempt if you want more time

9 months John then the possibility of the 60 day Visit Thai Family Extension if the OP qualifies (enter 60+30 bounce then 60 + almost 30 and a second bounce 60 + 30).

A suggestion could be a one year Non O-A visa which could give you up to two years stay in Thailand each time you apply. It’s always multiple entries. The main requirement are the same as for a regular Non O, but you’ll need a health insurance, health statement and criminal records from the police as well.

The evisa system doesn’t do multiple entry options for Non Immigrant O visas.

They do a multiple entry tourist visa which is valid for 6 months from issue and you’d get stamped in for 60 days on each entry.

With extensions and well timed border bounces you can eek nearly 9 months from that visa.

thank you for that confirmation.looks like the simpler way to go this year…one more question if i may,,,,since i find myself unprepared at such short notice regarding 400,000baht for family visit visa,,,,do you think a mastercard in excess of that amount would suffice as available funds?the web site states stays over 60days,,,however that amount was usually required for 12 mth stay ,,,with maturing …

I doubt they care at all that you have a credit card. A credit card isn't a bank statement. You can apply for a tourist visa which will give you 60 days on entry, and can apply for a 30 day extension. That's 90 days total. Then you can apply for a 60 day "visiting Thai family" extension in Thailand which also requires no proof of funds. That's 5 months total.
