My family was granted a SE 90 day non imm visa. I know we will need to request the extension of stay, because we have a 1 year contract. Is it 1900 baht for the extension of stay? Also, do we need to do this every 90 days? On the website it says to request an extension of stay in Bangkok, but we will be staying in Chiang Rai. Is there a local immigration office we can go to in Chiang Rai to request the extension of stay? What type of documentation do we need to bring to request an extension of stay? Thank you for all of your help, as this is our first time going to Thailand!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the extension process for a SE 90 day non-immigrant visa. Key points include the need to apply for an extension due to a 1-year contract, the cost of the extension being 1900 baht, and whether they need to apply every 90 days. They also ask about the location of a local immigration office in Chiang Rai and what documentation is necessary for the extension.

You can apply for an extension of stay when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp.

Definitely stop by the Chiang Rai immigration office BEFORE you need your extension and get the hand out they have which lists the required documentation to get the extension. That way you know what you'll need to give them.

All extensions of stays are 1900baht no matter the amount of time they're given for.

Thank you. Do we have to pay 1900 baht per person?

What Non imm visa do you have? It can make a difference to the documents required for your extention of stay

Go to the chiang rai immigration office BEFORE you need your extension and get the hand out that lists the required documentation for your extension type from them.

That's the ONLY way you're going to know exactly what they require and I say go before your current stamp expires so you can have time to get the documentation together

I just looked at our visas and they are non-imm "o" not b....does anything change as far as the extension of stay and documents we need to provide?

It requires far more documentation than just the year employment contract. AND if you're getting extensions for your family members that match your extension because you legally work here it requires documentation for each of them as well.

That's why I said go to the Chiang Rai immigration office BEFORE you need your extension to get the list of what you need. That way you're not caught out and missing some paperwork

Thank you! Also, is it 1900 baht for the extension? From my understanding I have to also check in every 90 days. Do I just pay 1900 baht one time?

You'll also need to apply for a work permit.

You can get a 1 year extention of stay in Chiang Rai if you have the Non imm B visa and your employers supply the documentation. Your employers/school will know what is needed for your specific location/imm office.

do you know what type of documents? Is a 1 year contract sufficient? Can I request the extension in Chiang Rai?

If you have the Non imm B visa then you'll need documentation from your school/employers to apply for the extention of stay
