Dear All,

I just want to confirm the information I've read. I entered Thailand used my ED-Visa on the 24 May 2019. I did my ED-Visa extension and on 4 September received a stamp saying valid until 19 Nov. I assume I need to go back to Immigration to extend from 19 Nov. Just have two questions:

1. Do you need to pay 1900 with every extension. From what I've read it only looks like the first time.

1. Do they extend it for 3 months more and then I have to repeat the process for the last 3 months to add up to a year.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on extending their ED Visa and has two main questions: 1) Is the extension fee of 1900 baht required for each extension, not just the first? 2) Will extensions be granted in 3-month increments, requiring multiple visits for a total of one year? Community responses confirm that each extension incurs a 1900 baht fee, typically allowing for 90-day extensions (with variations depending on location), and recommend monitoring 90-day reporting requirements.

Make sure you get a re-entry permit at immigration or the airport before you leave the country or your ED visa will become void.

Maybe redundant at this point. To answer your questions.

1. It is 1900 for each extension.

2. You will extend it 3 times. Each extension is 90 days and Each time will cost 1900 baht.

Typically most schools advise you go back one week before the date in your passport as a precaution, in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Don't forget your 90 day reporting too, When you got your first ED visa extension you should have gotten a piece of paper in your passport that tells you when your first 90 day report is due, It has nothing to do with your extension date. The paper looks like this

And just on the second question. Do I just go and extend my visa for up to a year everytime, depending on how long they give me extension days for.

the 90 day count down calendar starts from the day you get your first extension and it's due 89 days from that date (they count the day they give you the extension as day one).

You can apply for a 90 day report from 15 days before down until 7 days after your actual due date. Once you apply in person then you can use the 90 day online program and do your 90 day reporting online.

your 90 day report is due 90 days from the date you applied for and got your first extension.

Ask your school about it.

ED extensions can be for UP TO 90 days at a time (in bangkok students from most schools only get 60 day extensions).

It's totally up to where you study and the immigration office you deal with
