What are the options when you are in Covid Hospital-quarantine and you can’t make it to Immigration before your visa (non-immigrant O) expires?

Is it possible to extend afterwards with a doctor‘s certificate?

Is it possible to get a 60-day Covid extension afterwards when you have run into overstay?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When in Covid hospital quarantine and unable to reach Immigration before your non-immigrant O visa expires, you can request a visa extension based on medical reasons by having your doctor submit the necessary documentation. Extensions are available for 30, 60, or 90 days, and can be renewed as long as you remain unable to travel. The fee for extending your stay is 1,900 THB. Additionally, some private hospitals may assist with immigration processes, acting on your behalf to facilitate this.

Private hospitals usualy do the job with the immigration on your behalf, it is part of their public relations service. (not only for covid related cases.)

If the hospital doesn't provide the service, a friend can do it with the doctor certificate and a power of attorney form you sign.

unfortunately there was no availability in a private hospital at the time of the positive test result and I was sent to a government hospital instead.

You will ask the doctor to submit a extension of stay based on unable to travel due to medical reasons. These are sold in either 30, 60 or 90 day increments, and can be renewed as many times as long as you can not travel.

Like all extension of stays, they are 1,900 THB

thanks for the hint. I will ask the doctor tomorrow for this document. I suppose, I need to ask someone to go to immigration with my passport and this doctor‘s certificate to get my passport stamped accordingly, correct?

Having this medical extension still allows me to extend my non-immigrant O afterwards?

Thanks!
