What should I do with my hospital letter regarding my non immigrant O visa expiration in Thailand?

My non immigrant o visa runs out on 7th Jan, but I have a letter from Phuket mission hospital stating that I cannot travel until 21st Jan due to a recent knee operation.

Can anyone confirm if I should take this letter to Phuket immigration, or do I just take the letter with me when I leave Thailand on the 21st.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about the steps to take regarding their NON-O visa, which expires on January 7th, while they are unable to travel until January 21st due to a knee operation. The responses suggest taking the hospital letter to Phuket immigration before the expiration date for a possible extension, with additional advice on the requirements such as photographs and associated fees.

I went to phuket immigration office this morning.

Immigration officer asked for letter from hospital and also a pic of my injured knee.

The cost was 1900b and my passport with extension will be ready for collection on Monday morning.

A very smooth and easy process.

Thanks to everyone for all your good info.

Cheers

A friend got one about 2 years ago and Immigration also wanted photo’s of him in a hospital bed with a doctor in the picture too. Normal fees apply.

As a rule extensions of stays based on medical reasons are not easily handed out. If they dent the extension they'll sell you a 7 day stamp to get out of thailand.

Like people said, go to the immigration office BEFORE your current stamp runs out.

Agree, take the letter to IM and I am sure they will give you a free extension. I know this was granted to someone I know a year ago in Udon Thani.
