My tourist visa expires June 12 and I'm currently in US. Is it true that the border is opening up starting June 1? My flight to Thailand (with a layover in tokyo) is June 8th. Originally my flight was May 27th but I changed it to June 8th due to flights being banned till may 31.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is inquiring about the status of their tourist visa expiring on June 12, and the possibility of entering Thailand with a flight on June 8, given that borders may be opening on June 1. Comments clarify that the airport remains closed until May 31, and future access is uncertain.

No, it is not true, Airport is closed for incoming foreigners until 31 May and until further notice. And that notice could be closed for a longer or shorter period. If you can not use the Tourist Visa before the Valid Until date, you have to purchase a new one, but wait until the you can come into Thailand.

The airport is closed for incoming foreigners until 31 May, what ever happens in the future is something I can not answer,

Crystal ball or gut feelings answers are useless.
