What should I select as my country of residence on the new TDAC form if I’m living in Thailand on a DTV?

Question about the new TDAC form from May 1st

I don’t really have an issue with filling out the form itself, but I’m confused about one thing:

When selecting *country of residence*, it seems you can’t choose the Kingdom of Thailand.

What do you do if you are on a DTV - live here, pay tax here, and officially have residency here?

Choosing another country would technically mean lying on the form – any thoughts or experience with this?

Thanks in advance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights confusion regarding the new TDAC form's requirement for the country of residence. Users clarify that those on a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) should select their passport country instead of Thailand, as the DTV does not confer official residency. Several comments emphasize that the DTV is a tourist visa, and therefore, individuals should not misrepresent their status. Additionally, concerns about filling out the departure flight section are raised, indicating uncertainty for those entering Thailand without a scheduled return.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

For them DTV is still a TOURIST Visa so your permanent residence should be your home country

Another thing.. What about the "departing flight" section. As I understand, you can come into Thailand on DTV with just one-way, since 6 months is too far in advance to make your next flight plans. But arrival card asks for departing flight. What do we put? Or do we have to go ahead and schedule a flight?

If you are Thai you don’t need to fill the form

DTV is a tourist visa class - you are not technically a resident long term

U say you have officially got residency, if that is the case and I very much doubt that, then you can get a Thai passport and Thai ID card.

But I'm guessing you're on the DTV and think that gives you the right to say official residency when in fact you are a tourist.

residency and permanent residency is not the same. Staying more than 6 month in Thailand make you Thailand resident. ( that does not mean you can stay forever ;) or give you any specific right )
Michael *******
I have a certificate of residency in Thailand with dtv 😉

If u r on DTV means u r tourist allowed to work remotely for that u pay tax(earned while living in thailand). DTV is not residence permit. So u r country of residence will be your home country...

I had a similar issue when I was living in Singapore. My long term pass got cancelled while I was overseas so i entered and filled in the arrival card as a tourist. Singapore immigration said I needed to put my "home country" (passport country) as my place of residence, because tourists cannot have residency in Singapore (despite me living there for a few years). I put my parent's address and it was all good. I assume for the DTV, as a tourist visa, I would do the same

Anonymous participant 881 Thailand will NOT care about what it says there. Singapore might have, but I've always put Thailand on my TM6 form without incident.

Unfortunately, regardless of what visa you hold, you can't enter Thailand as your country of residence. Only a foreign country. Just put any random country down, your passport country or the country you departed from.
Wannikea *********
You choose either your passport country, or the country you are departing from to enter Thailand. You are a tourist on a DTV, nothing more.

It doesn't matter what visa you hold. Fill out the form and you'll find out for yourself that you can't select Thailand as a country of residence as a foreigner! I agree with you that you can enter any country - whether it's one of your passport countries (many of us are dual nationals) or the country you are departing from, a country you hold a long-term visa in (other than Thailand) or any random country you want. That information is one of the least important fields on the whole form.

Well if you can't put Thailand then they don't want people putting Thailand. There will be thousands of people who live in Thailand coming and going .
Allan **************
Yes but it's not a problem 👌 just go with the flow There country that can do what ever they want.

Well, if their requirements become unreasonable, foreigners will leave and those who have trips planned will cancel them, then Thailand will start crying again as happened last time during 2023 when they tried to introduce a vaccine mandate, which was quickly reversed within 24 hours but only because farang were complaining.
Paul *******
@Allan *************
Yes, because the people who designed the form don't like foreigners and view us all as tourists, regardless of what visa we're on or how long we've lived here. It has nothing to do with the DTV at all.
Allan **************
@Paul ******
That's right we're just guests no matter the visa we're on and that's the way it should be .
Paul *******
@Allan *************
Well, this form is further confirmation that there is a growing rift between foreigners and locals. Integration will be even more difficult as there is now going to be additional paperwork associated with each and every entry into the Kingdom that locals don't need to worry about.

Then the ETA (not applicable for visa holders) and the 300 Baht foreigner tax. These two will come soon...
Stefan ******
you most likely dont have official residency here (unless you have gone thru a very complex process).
Donna ******
@Stefan *****
If he had residency, he wouldn't have a DTV.
Paul *******
@Donna *****
If he had residency, he still would have to select a foreign country for his "country of residence" as Thai immigration views ALL foreigners as tourists that can't possibly be residents of the Kingdom.
Ciaran *********
If you’re on a DTV, you’re basically on a tourist visa and you do not have residency
Paul *******
@Ciaran ********
It doesn't matter - it's a case of self-declaration and regardless of what visa you hold, you can't select Thailand as your country of residency using this form.
Ciaran *********
@Paul ******
I’m simply replying to what he wrote. Maybe you could do the same.
Paul *******
@Ciaran ********
I'm replying to what he wrote because I've actually looked at the new online form and filled it out and thus I know for a fact that ALL foreigners, regardless of visa type have to choose a foreign country as their country of residence.
Steve *******
You choose the country you're a citizen of, as you're not a permanent resident of Thailand, regardless of how much time you spend in the country on your DTV.

Do you actually know this 100%, or are you guessing? Because it doesn’t say ‘country of citizenship’. So where does your information come from, other than just what you assume? Can you provide a link to an official source?
Steve *******
Anonymous participant yes, that field has been part of thai visas and immigration ever since I first came here 9 years ago.

Country of residence, as it concerns Thai immigration, is where you're from.

They don't differentiate by where you pay your taxes or where you own a house. They just want you to pick the country your passport is from.
Wannikea *********
Anonymous participant the official information source is that "Thailand isn't listed" as you don't have a Thai passport or PR.
Will ************
Country of passport ... where they can deport you to if you do something naughty.

Anonymous participant Thailand considers all foreigners in the Kingdom to be tourists, that's what it comes down to, NOT based on your visa.
Jack ********
Anonymous participant you’re on a tourist visa DTV. You don’t live here.
