How long before my retirement visa extension should I top up a different bank account to 800,000 baht?

I’m on a retirement visa with the 800,000 in one bank…I have another bank that doesn’t have as much in it.

If my extension comes up for renewal end of June.

How long before the end of June do I have to top up the other bank to 800,000 so I can use that bank for my next renewal.

In other words I want to switch the banks I use for the visa extension renewal going foreward.

Later on I’ll close the first bank.

That’s the idea anyway…..appreciate your insights…Ta.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When switching banks for your Thai retirement visa renewal, you need to ensure that you have maintained 800,000 baht in your new bank account for at least two calendar months before your application date. It is recommended to keep 400,000 baht in at least one account during the transition to meet the ongoing requirements. Some immigration offices may require that the amount be maintained for three months, so check with your local office for specific guidelines. To avoid complications, plan to complete the transfer well ahead of the end of June when your extension is due.

If it's done now and the current 'extension account' goes below

Bht 400,000 immigration will deny the next extension and the whole non-imm O process will need to start from the beginning again.

Wait for 3 months after your extension then after the 3 months you can drop down to 400k. Make sure to have 810k and then move 405k so both accounts are not under 400k then the next day you are free to move the other 405k over. 3 months after your extension and 2 months before your next extension you have to have 800k minimum the 7 months between you can drop to 400k. I would check with your immigration office first though. They might not like the extra work. My office in Phichit did not encourage it

As a general rule, you must have had 800K baht in your Thai bank account for two calendar months as of application day. Be careful when you move money between banks. You should keep more than 400K baht in one of two accounts anytime during the switching process, as you must keep 400k baht throughout the year, after three months of keeping 800k baht in your bank account from the last extension approval.

You will need bank letters and transaction records from both banks for the next application.

There are a few offices that require you to have 800k baht in your Thai bank account for three months when you apply for a new extension. Most offices accept an extension application when your current stamp is remaining 30 days or less. So, go to your local immigration office to get the latest requirements 3-4 months before you apply for the next yearly extension based on retirement, for you not to be too late to put money up to 800k baht for the next application.

So Ellie…..if I get the 800,000 into the K bank 3 months before …..and leave the other 800,000 in the old bank untouched……

Then I should be ok..?

And all I need to do is get yearly statements AND the letter from both banks …?

Am I correct ..?
