Can I get a new Non-B visa while in the USA and return to Thailand before my current visa expires?
Hello all, I have a work permit and Non-B. My non-B expires 4th of December.
I am planning to go to USA. Because of the situation in Thailand, I would like to have the option of coming late as possible.
If I get a re-entry permit and then while in the USA get a new non-b visa. and arrive by 4 December, am I good? I understand I will need to get the 1-year extension. But will this count as a gap?
My other options-
I arrive close to 3 weeks before expiration, do quarantine or sandbox, and then get my visa renewed for another year.
I arrive with just a few days left and do sandbox - can I renew my non-b in Phuket even though I live in Bangkok? If I cant renew my visa in Phuket can I send my passport to Bangkok and have it done without my being present?

Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on the timing of obtaining a new Non-B visa while planning a trip to the USA, given that their current Non-B visa will expire on December 4th. They wonder if getting a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand is necessary and if returning with a new visa just before the expiration date will create a gap. Comments advise that a re-entry permit is not needed if obtaining the visa while in the USA, but returning without a gap is a concern. Additionally, users are uncertain about the processes and options available for renewing their visa under current conditions, especially considering the unpredictability of quarantine or sandbox measures.

If your plan is to get a new Non-B visa while inside the USA, you do not need to get a re-entry permit.
> But will this count as a gap?
Yes it would.

December is 5 months away, we don't even know if there's going to be sandbox or quarantine. I suggest waiting to find out more. However, you can only get the extension of stay where you live (Bangkok, I'm guessing).
