I’m looking for clarification regarding the level of health cover I need on a retirement visa. I have read online that a minimum of 3 million baht cover for inpatient cover is required but I can’t see anything in regards to outpatient cover or whether it is even required. Please could somebody who knows 100% confirm as I want to get my insurance in place. Many thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For the Thailand retirement visa, particularly the OA or OX categories, there is a health insurance requirement of either $100,000 or 3 million baht for inpatient cover. There are no specified requirements for outpatient cover. For the Non-O visa, health insurance is not required.

exactly. I think I have my answer. I will be getting outpatient cover anyway as I am very active and tend to injure myself more than your average couch potato, plus I ride a motorcycle and we all know what the roads are like here 😂
Get a Non-O visa (no insurance required) or look on the Thai Embassy website that serves where you are applying from to see their requirements for the Non-OA visa. These are the common retirement visas.
