There was so much chatter about the rules changing ....

TLDR : Answer Summary
The OA retirement visa renewal requires health insurance coverage of at least $100K (or 3 million baht), alongside financial requirements such as a pension/income of 65K baht per month or funds totaling 800K baht in a Thai bank account. Applicants can renew their visa in-country or reapply from abroad. It's noted that it is illegal to falsify financial requirements, and while agents might offer short cuts, caution is advised.

just a reminder that while certain "short cuts" may be common, an agent falsifying financial requirement is illegal. People can do as they wish but should be aware.

Much chatter but no change I'm afraid. Insurance coverage of 3M baht still required.

If you are asking about extending incountry, you need 800k in a Thai bank account OR embassy endorsed income verification.
And current health insurance.
IF you are in the 1st year of OA you can exit and reenter just before it expires and get another year (not multi entry for the 2nd year) providing you have Insurance for another year.
If you don't want money in Thailand then you would have to reapply for a new OA outside of Thailand.

I guess you are going to apply for a new Non O-A at your embassy/consulate. Requirements regarding health insurance is still not less than $ 100K USD (or not less than 3 million baht).
Financial requirements are the same pension/income equal to 65K baht a month OR funds equal to 800K baht.
