What are the current health insurance requirements for extending a multi-entry OA retirement visa in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I have a multi-entry OA Retirement visa first issued in Australia in October 2021 valid for 12 months.

At the time, I was required to provide:

(a) Health Insurance for 3.5 million baht plus

(b) additional Covid insurance also for 3.5 million baht.

Before the end of the visa, I intend to exit Thailand and return and get "stamped in" for a further 12 months from the date of return to Thailand.

I am aware that I can only do this if I have adequate insurance to cover the "extended" period.

I have seen references in this group that the insurance requirements are now:

(a) Health Insurance of sometimes 400k baht and sometimes more.

(b) Covid insurance to be now US$10,000

The embassy website in Australia now says it is 3 million baht to cover Health Insurance and Covid combined.

I know there are many different visas with differing requirements.

Can somebody advise me what would be the insurance figures required to cover an additional stay as above.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the health insurance requirements for extending a multi-entry OA Retirement visa in Thailand, originally issued in Australia. They mentioned that the insurance requirements have recently changed, with conflicting amounts being stated (ranging from 400,000 baht to 3 million baht combined for health and Covid insurance). Commenters provided advice emphasizing the importance of sticking to the high-end coverage of 3.5 million baht for health insurance and confirmed that the new requirements will begin in October 2022. Additionally, it was noted that re-entry permits must be purchased for extended stays.

you will be stamped in for another year because you enter under the Non-O/A visa. That's why the insurance coverage must still be 3.5 Million Baht. The thailand-pass insurance coverage will always be covered by this amount, because 3.5 mill Baht exceed 10,000.-USd by far !

so long as the OA insurance policy is extended one year.

thanks. I have used O-A visas with multiple reentry permits since 2006 but the new required insurance prompted my question.

I plan to get new O-A visa in usa soon and while in Thailand I will make trips outside the country. Will I lose my second year for O-A or will they give me re-entry permit for 12 months from last entry when I leave for 5 months with the expectation I will return with a new insurance policy ? This seems like a murky issue to me.

before you leave Thailand do as
@Nongnuch *******
replied.. buy a reentry permit for 1000 Thai baht at Thai immigration.

The OA visa is multiple entry during the first year it's issued. But you need to buy reentry permit... single or multiple reentry... during the second year

after the validity of the Non-OA has expired, the multi entry has expired, too. So in the second year, you need to buy re-entry permits for exiting and re-entering, to keep the last "admitted stay" alive. And also you need to prove health insurance for a complete duration of the stamped period of the last admitted stay stamp. If you cannot present the helath insurance upon re- entry, your admitted stay will be cut shorter (which shoukld not happen if you had the full period covered)

Look at your current OA insurance policy... is it in the amount of US $100,000. I believe that it may be in that amount. If so. Get either an extension of it for another year or buy a new one for one year.

As the AU Thai Embassy have already been requiring the OA insurance policy to be US $100,000.

And you will need to meet whatever Thailand Pass requirements are for entering Thailand...if any at that time

The New OA insurance required will change October 1st. To that for described on the AU website.
