Extension Retirement Non Immigrate OA.

Last year for extension I need to make a Thai Healthinsurance 400K ฿ in and 40K ฿ for ambulant.

What did I need this year❓Any change❓

And can I use Non-Thai Insurance❓

The 800K ฿ I need is since months untouched on account.

-On 1178 I get different answer 😔

-Calling Immi Korat is not possible 😔

-On Immi mainonlinepage they don't write that insurance needed. (Point 22)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for extending a Non-Immigrant OA visa currently necessitate a Thai health insurance policy with coverage of 400,000 ฿ for inpatient treatment and 40,000 ฿ for outpatient treatment. There are no recent changes to these insurance requirements, and you must use an approved Thai insurance provider; foreign insurance is not acceptable. It is advised to verify with your local immigration office for the most accurate information.

and on that note we're done.

Whether they do or don't require the 3mill baht policy to get an extension from an O-A entry is between you and your immigration office

Sheesh most of the embassy websites haven't even been updated to show it's required to buy the O-A from the consulate.

Good luck to everyone on an O-A visa who is seeking an extension. The sound and solid advice is to GO to your immigration office before you need your extension and see what they say. Sorry it's not a cut and dried answer,

Well
@Juan *******
it looks like there's a visit to the Korat Immigration office in your near future 😮 No one has any direct experience with that office and O-A extensions or knows whether you'll have to show the 3m or the
******
policy.

GO and ask them is about the best and most solid advice I can offer 🙁 Sorry that isn't helpful

Yes I think so! Because a man from netherland used for extension Retirement OA a Allianz Insurance from Netherland. This in Korat.

But to be sure, i have to drive there 100km only for asking 🙄.

I will give the Information to you (For Korat Immi - can be different on different Immi 🙄) - Going on: Welcome in Thailand.

Sorry you got some mixed info there.

AT THIS TIME <- meaning right now, at the immigration offices across the country there is NO CHANGE to the insurance requirements for O-A visa extensions.

You need a new yearly 40k/400k policy from one of the approved 18 thai insurance carriers.

You cannot use your own insurance 😕 You MUST use one of the approved 18 carriers on this list for the O-A insurance

@Tod ********
not what I was td by Jomtien immigration this week, they advised 3 mil insurance is required for 1 year OA extension. Not sure why you would say it is not required.
James ********
@Glen ********
he is getting mixed signals as usual from Thai immigration offices...sadly.

Go to your immigration office and ask them for their list of requirements for the OA extension.

I think none of our experiences are worth anything. The two people I know used Chaengwattana and Hua Hin, and you talked to Jomtien BUT the O/P is going to Korat.

I think the best answer I can give the O/P is to slog on over to the Korat Immigration office and talk to them in person well before they need their extension 🙂
Tod *********
@Glen ********
It has NOT been implemented as of yet. That's why I am saying it's not required.
Glen *********
@Tod ********
it has been implemented, it is a requirement already advertised on Embassy websites, and on the advice at Jomtien. To say this is not worth anything is belittling, silly man and unworthy of you.
Tod *********
@Glen ********
dunno what to tell you, I had not one but TWO people who didn't just "ask their office" BUT applied for and GOT yearly extensions by showing the
******
thai insurance. Believe it or not, I'm telling you what happened and have zero reason to deny either of the people who got their extensions from O-A entries using
******
insurance as recently as yesterday.
Glen *********
@Tod ********
yes but that does not mean it has not been implemented, just the enforcement is not consistent as yet - which is always a problem. Does not make my specific advice worthless.
Tod *********
@Glen ********
but it doesn't give any weight to it either because all you did was ask, and you know the thai penchant for pulling a b/s answer out of their ass rather than saying "I don't know"

Where as the comment I made had two people who just got extensions.
Glen *********
@Tod ********
given I asked a close friend who works at immigration, who I've known for years, I put full weight behind what they told me. They always check before they give me any advice, not out of their arse.

You believe what you want, but don't go telling people it has NOT been implemented otherwise you will make them unprepared.
James ********
@Glen ********
but not all offices are on board...yet... with the new rules
Glen *********
@James *******
appreciate that, that's why I specifically referenced Jomtien, but for Tod to say it has not been implemented yet is plainly wrong too. It has been implemented, just not consistently enforced as yet.
Tod *********
@Glen ********
and I had a person at Chaengwattana yesterday AND at Hua Hin on Monday BOTH who were getting O-A extensions and both who were told to show the
