TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the new Thailand Pass and the requirements for medical insurance when entering Thailand on a retirement visa (Non-O or OA). It is noted that all travelers require medical insurance coverage of at least $50,000 for COVID-19 care to enter Thailand. Additionally, recent updates indicate that retirees specifically need insurance with coverage of 3,000,000 baht (which exceeds $50,000). Travelers must upload valid insurance documentation during the Thailand Pass application process, with verification occurring at immigration upon arrival. Clarity on the exact requirements has been a challenge, with varying information provided by different immigration offices.

So I often see questions about a OA ret visa but what about re-entry with a valid re-entry non O extension based on marriage?

Does that require ONLY COVID 50k insurance and NOT full medical?

@Gordon *******
Only Covid insurance is over. The new requirement from Nov 1 is full medical 50k$.

1. New requirement for retirees visa is 3,000,000 bahts coverage.

2. Requirement for entering Thailand is 50,000 US$ coverage.

Therefore: 3,000,000 bahts being more than 50,000 US$, the retirees insurance alone complies with the requirements to enter Thailand.

Don't ask me for sources, I've just got my Thailand Pass and my non-OA visa this week.

ok thanks for that valuable info , so if i am not wrong u are out of thailand and apply to “thailand pass” under a nonOA visa(retire visa) , so when u were in the thailand pasa process they ask u what visa and u choose the nonOA Visa ,and then they ask u for the 3mill. Baths coverage medical insurance , and uploading the insurance certificate was enough, sorry long text but plz answer…

they don't ask which visa. They ask the purpose of travel, you can click "other" or "returning to Thailand" (my case) and length of stay you put 365 days. And I uploaded the insurance certificate (the page with the contract number and coverage amount).

,thanks again … so thailand pass knows u going stay 365 days but they don’t know under what kind of visa or if is a work permit or whatever , is like this??
Frédéric ******************
@Borja ********
yes, they want to see that insurance validity is in agreement with your intended length of stay. Visa will be checked by immigration upon arrival anyway, like in the old days.

ok ,so the insurance coverage u upload in Thailand pass process is under your responsability as this only going be check on arrival by airport inmigration so then they will check if insurance coverage is 3mill. Baths/year as must be for retire visa ,so by the way the new requirement of 3 mill. Baths for retire visas must be in inmigration web site , correct??

At the immigration, they will check your insurance validity, it's written on the OA visa. If validity is less than one year, let's say 3 months, immigration will put an entry stamp for 3 months and tell you to contact your local immigration when you extend your insurance to be allowed staying more time.

A little tip for you. When you receive anything from them that is in a PDF format then convert it into a JPG format otherwise you won't be able to upload it successfully.

They are sure of nothing? I'm just having a headache comprehending the clear steps to come back to Thailand holding a "non-O" yearly retirement visa in regards to "Medical insurance coverage 50k"? Need or not need? I like to do the right thing, I'm in Bangkok and am not requiring any medical insurance holding a retirement Non-O, so, what to do in case I need to travel out of Thailand, the return seemed so vague? Thanks for any clarification.

my post is trying to find out if fi am in extension retire visa for the medical insurance i need to came back by thailand pass is only the requirement of thailand pass(50,000 medical insurance) or the 100,000$ asked bfor for retire visa ,and if that insurance need to matches goverment form same as bfor in the abolid CoE ????

When you arrive at the airport, the immigration will ask you to show your insurance paper. If it's valid only 1 month, they will put an entry stamp of 1 month stay (instead of the re-entry permit validity date) and tell you to clear with your local immigration when you get your insurance extended.

@Borja ********
