TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses Australians seeking government approval to leave the country amidst strict travel restrictions due to COVID-19. Various users share their experiences, highlighting that some have successfully received approval, particularly if they can demonstrate financial stability for an extended stay abroad. Others express frustration with the process, and there are debates about the government's handling of the situation. Some users also reflect humorously on the state of affairs, while others touch on personal anecdotes related to their experiences as expats.

If you canโt get back I think thatโs your problem with your paperwork.
nothing to do with scomo.
I myself and I personally know 3 others that have applied for TV & STVโs and made it back to Thailand in the last 3 months.
No problems at all.

I'm in Bangkok right now. Been here over a month. I was approved to leave first go, within 24hrs, after 11 failed attempts to bring my fiancee to Australia. Just show you're leaving for more than three months and can support yourself over that time, you'll be fine.

Itโs back to being a convict settlement down there
according to the media back there in Australia they are saying international travel again in 2024. Ah well I'll just have another Leo and think how lucky this fossil is lapping it up in Thailand. BTW its a womans supermarket here at the moment. No farang
I have seen that on the news. But scomo doesn't know what he's talking about. I think that's if covid no longer exists. I have seen that if people are vaccinated (which I am) can travel and not have to quarantine soon.
