What can I expect from the medical examination process for a Non O-A visa in Australia?

Here in Australia and went for the medical for Non O-A today. The doctor was pretty amazed at the things he had to check, like drug addiction... “how do I test for that, ask you to tell me honestly?” The TB test is one that can take 1-2 weeks for the results and very few labs do it. He said he knows what leprosy and elephantiasis are but has never seen a case. What are other people’s experience with this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The medical examination for a Non O-A visa in Australia involves various checks, including drug addiction and TB tests, which can take 1-2 weeks for results. Some doctors may sign forms without performing all tests if they know the patient well. Personal experiences vary; some find the process more thorough than expected.

Most people know their doctor enough (and the doctor is astute enough) to just sign the form without any of the testing. :O

My husband did a blood test while we were in Australia... I think it was a normal one...its mainly for alcoholism and substance abuse. If your Dr is back tomorrow I would just see him. Shouldn't be a problem. Good luck with it..

My doctor had me go and do all the tests, (in Perth) did them all in one day and the results took 5 working days to be ready. I think i could have persuaded him, but was just as easy to do the tests so he was covered.
