TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about travel restrictions and visa requirements for flying to Koh Samui in February while currently in Latvia. Community responses indicate uncertainty due to the evolving nature of COVID-19 regulations, with advice to check the Thailand consulate and stay updated on travel restrictions specific to provincial areas such as Koh Samui. Some comments note the possibility of needing a Certificate of Entry and suggest that it may be too late to meet entry requirements if aiming for early February.

It's already too late to get to Samui by early February considering it can take 2 weeks to go through the process and steps to obtaining the certificate of entry, followed by two weeks of quarantine in Bangkok before you could fly to Samui. So it'll be at least mid February even if everything went smoothly for you which typically it doesn't. Most people spend two or three months getting together all the pieces to get in and through their quarantine.

Check the Thailand consulate

Probably have to wait until nearer the time! The virus seems to be rampant at the moment so no telling what new restrictions, if any, will be in place in the coming days or weeks!

Look where Thailand was 3 weeks ago to where it is now! All the Thai government has done by closing everything down, is delayed the inevitable!

@David ******
you may be right, but the top scientist in charge of Covid measures said yesterday he believed the numbers will fall and the country could be back to where it was by the end of January. We can only wait and see

I really hope so!

You will have to wait and see, nobody really knows that far in advance

Samui though may follow Phuket and if you fly direct when come out of ASQ no need to quarantine again.

As for Visas I think you are better off with the TR visa at present. The STV visa requires upfront payment for 3 months of accomadation. But if you plan to be in the same place thats ok.

The good thing with STV is it allows you to stay for 270 days whereas the TR visa allows 60 + 30 days
