ORIGINAL POSTER
I just got my retirement extension at CW imm. I stayed in a hotel for 2 nights and they sent in the TM30 on me. So I’m at immigration and they asked if I stayed at the hotel. It turned out to be that that was the last entry. I said that I believed TM30 was for retuning from outside the country. They told me that it had changed and I have to report every single time. I believe this has something to do with some change in the system in September of this your. I believe that change erased my 11 year history staying at the exact same address, just from the way they talked. Not sure on that.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the complexities of the TM30 reporting system in Thailand, particularly for expats with retirement extensions. Many commenters share their experiences, noting that the requirement to report a TM30 upon returning to a primary address varies by immigration office—some offices necessitate it after any travel, while others do not. Additionally, concerns are raised regarding potential changes to the system that may affect historical records, yet it is clarified that existing TM30 filings remain intact. Strategies for managing TM30 filings efficiently, especially for frequent travelers, are also shared.

Okay people there are OVER 80 immigration offices in the country and it's like this

SOME offices require you to file a new TM30 when you return to your primary address from international travel only

SOME offices require you to file a new TM30 when you return to your primary address from international OR domestic travel

AND

Some offices say as long as you're returning to your primary address from domestic or international travel it doesn't matter at all and you don't file a new TM30

SO what you people need to do is check with your specific office, do what they say 🙂

glad you spelt that out Tod. This TM30 is causing quite a lot of confusion. As we do 90 day reporting I question if it is even necessary.

@Alexander ******
a 90 day report has nothing at all to do with a TM30 (other than the 90 day online system checks against the passport for the registered address on the TM30 system)

When I got back from Hanoi 3 months ago I went to CW anout the TM 30. After queueing for sometime the officer I saw told me my existing TM 30 was good for the year regardless of how many times I ho in and out of the country.

Pro tip that works at least in Bangkok.

I travel a lot for work and don’t bother with the TM30 at all as I never stay over 90 days meaning no need to deal with immigration that often.

Once a year I need to deal with immigration to do my non-O based extension and few days before my scheduled appointment I just file new TM30 online for that day. Print out, include to my application and never had a problem.

So if you need to deal with immigration and TM30 is not up to date. Just file one online for any day and avoid the penalty.

I believe the change is made 1979, with the introduction of the Immigration Act section 38.

Part of the text: "where the house, house or hotel is located within twenty-four hours from the time the alien resides."

There is and was never a mention of only report the first address after arriving in Thailand.

I think all you need to do is have another one done at your actual residence, and it's all good, resetting it back to that address.

Yes, this is it. After we got our retirement visas renewed I had to ask my landlord to put in a new TM30. Didn’t realize this until my husband went to do his 90-day check in and the IO told him he needed a new one.

At least in Bangkok the TM30 data is cross checked with the TM47 (90 day report) data, and it's checked when you get your extension.

The way bangkok is interpretting it is that when you stay somewhere that registers you in the system inside the country once you get back to your primary address you need to file a new TM30.

It didn't erase your 11 year history at all, nothing erases your previous TM30 filings, but the most recent one is the one the system and immigrations uses as the place you're registered to stay
