TLDR : Answer Summary
Due to COVID-19, all land borders in Thailand are currently closed, preventing any border runs for extended stays. Alternative options for staying longer include applying for appropriate visas like the Thai Elite Visa or an education visa. However, if one wishes to exit Thailand, they would need a Certificate of Entry (COE) to re-enter, along with quarantine requirements upon return. Visa options may be more effective for long-term stays than frequent border runs.

You are limited to the number of times you can enter Thailand per year on a tourist visa.

She's just blowing smoke up your you know what. The people who approves entry would be the immigration officers, who are overseen by the Thai police. The people who issue visas are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They do not communicate with each other.

How long do you want to stay? There are many options other than the regular tourist visa. Most can be converted to inside Thailand.

Easy. The borders are closed.

Malaysia does not allow anyone in the country for any reason.

Myanmar is Myanmar.

Lao is not selling tourist visas or visas on arrival, only employment visas. The only people who are allowed in are either people with family in Lao, or people who are working on the high speed railway. It also requires 15 day quarantine.

Cambodia is not selling tourist visas or visas on arrival, only employment visas. The only people who are allowed in are people with family in Cambodia, or people who are employed or have business. They require 15 day quarantine, and require a 2K USD quarantine deposit (the balance returned to you, sometimes in 100 Riel notes).

IF you find a border country that lets you in, you will have to figure out some way to return to Thailand. There are reports of people with connections to Thailand from Laos who hired an ambulance, pick them up at the border, and take them to an hospital quarantine in Bangkok for a 10 day quarantine. The logistics were difficult, and took about a month to coordinate everything. I would imagine calling an ambulance from Bangkok to either Nong Khai or Mukdahon and back to be very expensive (20K THB or more?). I also imagine a hospital quarantine to be very expensive as well, and to have an IV drip in you throughout the stay (just in case you do have COVID-19).

Sounds fun? I doubt it.

does not help you get in though does it? Once here easy enough to save yourself £5000 and do things yourself. Total waste of money.

OP ask for a way to stay in the country without having to do border runs, and the EV fit that description. Maybe it would be a waste of money for you, but for others it can be the only way to stay long term in the country. Not all of us that live here / want to live here, fit into the typical visa categories.

You could fly to Singapore but would then need to apply for another COE to re-enter Thailand and do the whole quarantine or sandbox again once you return. Major pain in the ass.

uhmm Singapore is stricter than Thailand for gaining entry. I work there took me six weeks earlier in the year to get permission to go even though i have a valid work permit.

Where do you plan on going? Every country in SE Asia has entry restrictions due to Covid and some are closed outright.

Then when you return you will have to either go into 7 days quarantine or sandbox if vaccinated and 10 days quarantine if not. Hope you're ready for a lot of swabs up your nose if this is your plan.
