Hello ,

Can somebody tell me details about the Thailand border cross ? I heard once we cross the border and just walk back into the country , the person will be given the TR visa. Need more details , I mean the visa fee ?

How much will it cost ?

Is it a 60 day TR Visa or 30 day Visa extension ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the current situation regarding border crossings into Thailand and the associated visa regulations. Users mention that land borders are largely closed, and if a traveler were to cross a land border and re-enter, they would typically receive a 30-day visa exemption, not a 60-day tourist visa (TR). Travelers are advised to apply for a tourist visa in a neighboring country for a longer stay. The conversation emphasizes that regulations might be influenced by COVID-19, which impacts travel options and requirements, including quarantine rules.

I arrive in Thailand 9 feb going to Pattaya what is the Quarantine
Paul *******
Land borders continue to be closed indefinitely. With special permission you might be allowed to cross one but it's not easy to get.

You can fly to Cambodia though and return to Thailand visa exempt, correct?

Gotta fly.
Albert ********
15 days thats it .correct.
Astrid **********
@Albert *******
the free on arrival Exemption entrance tourist stamp is 30 days. Only flying in allowed plus have to quarantine upon arrival 7-10 days
Albert ********

Tis the season.
Astrid **********
@Albert *******
nothing to do with a season been like this for many years. Free 30 days on arrival stamp ✈️, not 15 . . .

Though yes quarantine not always been πŸ™ˆπŸ˜†
Albert ********
@Astrid *********
15 days is for a border crossing after you have used your 30.
Astrid **********
@Albert *******
after you used the 30 arrival days up, one can extend at Immigration.

Or leave and come back again ✈️ and get 30 days again.

15 days only for certain special countries and is called a VOA.

But that's an exception.

And if you referring to the 15 day landborders entry . . . Landborders are closed for tourists.
Albert ********
No kidding tis the season.
Wolfgang *******
Forgot your idea. Now with Covid can't do that. If you fly - example - to Cambodia and want to go back.. you have to use the Thai-Pass. But this is temporarily stopped for new register

And tomorrow? Nobody knows
Nexa *******
@Wolfgang ******
that’s not true I just got one.

@Helen *******
Yes I talk wrong sorry

@Wolfgang ******
Thailand Pass is not stopped. The test and go option is stopped, sandbox and AQ are still available to apply for.

Land borders are closed. If you left and immediately re-entered and were eligible for visa exemption you'd get stamped in for 30 days. You'd have to apply for a tourist visa in a neighbouring country to get 60 days.

But you need to hold a passport from a country that is given the visa exempt entry.
Steve *******
@Greg *******
Yep, I already said that in my reply. Doh! Try and keep up.
Darren *******
The land borders are shut
Michael ********
No there is one land border supposed to be open (nong khai) but we (the admins) have asked around and heard no further details about it.

Unsure if only for Loatian and Thai citizens etc etc.

Even in the old days you only got 30 days visa exemption thing. You can apply in Loas for visa

Michael Dawson, for the past 15 years I have entered Thailand on a Non-immigrant multiple entry O visa based on being married to a Thai national. I had to leave the country every 90 days for a year to obtain another 90 day stamp. Since I live in Udon Thani, it was an easy drive to Nong Khai where I would cross into Laos and then turn right back again into Thailand. It would take about 45 minutes for the entire process and then I would drive back down to Udon Thani. Now that the border is closed, that puts an end to an otherwise easy border run. I am hoping things return to the good old days in the not so distant future.
Michael ********
@Richard ******
yep lots of things have changed
Steve *******
@Michael *******
It's only open for trade.
Nick ****************
@Michael *******
Nong Khai (Friendship bridge,) is closed to Foreigners only Thai/Lao can use. Comnercial vehicles can use bringing goods. Only way for falang is to fly in.
Paul *******
@Nick ***************
Some foreigners have used the Thai-Lao friendship bridge to cross with special permission.

Thai/Lao can also use for freight, repatriation purposes or for Laotians coming to work in Thailand at this time. Freight drivers aside, everyone else must quarantine in both directions.

Foreign nationals on Lao tour programs may be allowed to use the friendship bridge heading into Laos since January 1. They must be accompanied by a guide at all times and do a one night quarantine in Vientiane on arrival.

@Nick ***************
we figured that would probably be the case, just hadnt heard
