Hello everyone. I have recently joined the group and have been reading few of the comments. At the outset, I would like to highly appreciate the idea and the efforts of all the advisors.

Here is my query. I recently got married to my Thai wife and currently, I am here (in BKK)on a 90 day single entry Non ‘O’ marriage visa (got it in my home country, India). I wish to extend it for a year and convert it to multiple entries.

Could you please let me know what are the requirements I need to fulfil? My 90 day visa expires in August.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on extending their 90-day single entry Non-O marriage visa, which is set to expire soon, into a one-year multiple entry visa. Community responses suggest visiting the local Immigration Office in Bangkok for specific requirements, noting the general criteria of showing sufficient funds (either 400,000 THB in savings or a monthly income of 40,000 THB). Additionally, it's recommended to apply for the extension well in advance of the visa expiration.

You got 90 days of Admitted to Stay with this visa on entry in Thailand. As you are in Bangkok, visit the Immigration Office and get the hand out with requirements of the 1 year Extension of Stay based on being married with a Thai national. Get all these copies and you can apply between 45 days and your last day for this Extension of Stay, don't wait for the last day, give yourself some extra days just in case you missed a copy. First you will get 30 day under consideration stamp, during these 30 days Immigration Officers might come to your house to see if you actually live there together. After these 30 days you get the remaining 11 months inked in your passport and as soon as that is done you can apply for the multiple Re-Entry Permit so you can travel as you wish and get on return the same permitted up to date.

It is at the discretion of Immigration to check if you marriage is due and in facto. It is not a hassle, they call when they come, make a picture with all of you in the house and that's it. You used Thai visa advice for free advice, why hire an agent who explain the same thing.

Thank you, Robert, for the additional info (30 day under consideration stamp). I wasn’t aware of that. Another query crept up while reading your comment ‘...officers MIGHT come to your house...’ Is it at their discretion? Would you advise I apply via an expert (agent) to avoid the hassle(s)?
