Hi everyone. I’d like to enter Thailand to stay for three to six month. What are my options? I’ve heard there are tourist and business visas that are available. Can someone explain differences?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses options for staying in Thailand for three to six months, particularly focusing on tourist and business visas. Comments highlight that tourist visas may currently be restricted due to COVID-19, with specific mentions of countries deemed unsafe for travel. Users recommend checking local embassy guidelines for the most accurate and updated information regarding visa applications and entry requirements, emphasizing the need for COVID-19 insurance and the potential for 14-day quarantines upon arrival. The conversation also touches on frustrations within the expat community regarding visa policies and the impact of the pandemic.

I'd stay on a tourist and keep renewing. Problem is they'll quarantine you for 14 days on your arrival. It's killing their tourism which is a huge portion of their GDP. So it's my guess they'll stop the quarantine soon which will work out better for you and for Thailand. Thailand doesn't have a covid 19 problem because the Thai people are clean and don't touch. Also the weather is very hot which helps and the food is very spicy. I think the virus can't live with all the healthy eating

The only right answer you can get at your local Thai embassy they deside

This is ridiculous now let me tell y'all a thing or two. Stop with the sarcastic and snide remarks. I joined this group to be able ask questions and to find out about visa and other info. And all this back-n-forth stop right now and stop acting like a bunch of kids.

I have never travel outside the US and I have no clue how to go about getting Visa and what I will need to have and do when I get ready to come to Thailand one day. I was hoping I could depend on you people to help me especially the ones that have live there and the ones who have lived there for years to help me and steer me in the right direction.

Covid19 is world wide and I understand that the people in Thailand are suffering, lost jobs and have no income and some of the people on here bad mouthing what going on there. And in my opinion this virus is here to stay and vaccines are a long way off from being ready to vaccinate people. And I have cancer and was suppose to be in Phuket back in April and that didn't work out so now I hope I can live enough to be able to travel to there.

Now it not my intent to offend anyone but instead of you expats on here with your smart remarks and being sarcastic stop it at one point you were in our shoes trying to figure this out do you need to go here or there, etc etc etc.

And all you expat instead of being on here marking rude comments about Thailand and how bad things are, ya'll all have money you may be rich or you may not so take some of your money and why don't y'all step up and help the people, start a food drive, set up some sort of foundation to financially help them in someway, when your out shopping play it forward pay for someone groceries at the grocery store, if you know someone who needs a bill that needs to be pay, pay it for them. And do not get on here talking about you can't afford to help or bad mouth me and my post. All of you have talked about nice it is to live there and the people of Thailand has graciously allowed you to live there and if you don't like what's going on there then pack your bags and leave. Now is time all the expats get up off their ass and start helping these people and give back to them. Some of you are business men and women and I sure there are expats from all walks of life's that can set up foundation, and organize food drives and figure out ways to help, instead of sitting around have drinks at the golf course and other places.

Now like I stated this group was set up to help people provide information so let's keep it at that.

This is the attitude of most expats here in Thailand, you will even find this kind of behaviour if you bump into an expat in the streets of Thailand
Man ******
@Craigh *******
I live in south Louisiana in the US and I am a southern and I know there are people have attitudes and then you have people that don’t. But let me say this to those expats just because you live in Thailand it isn’t your country, the people of Thailand are allowing you to live there and you should be thankful for that and stop your bitching about everything under the sun. If you don’t like the way Thailand government runs there country (which by the way you have no say or have rights to vote) then shut up or move back to where you came from so then you can voice your opinions on how your country is run.

And let me make this perfectly clear as much as I and a lot of other want to travel to Thailand ASAP I get what’s going on. The people that run this country are having the same issues as every country in the world is having. And there first concern is trying to figure out how to keep the people of Thailand safe as possible from this visa and then trying to figure out how to get it country up and running again. I am in my 60’s and nothing in my life time has anything like COVID-19 has happened and when your not sure what you are dealing with and you are having to figure it out it takes time. So you expats let me tell you this be thankful that you get to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and stop being so immature and stop criticizing Thailand officials they are doing the best they can under the circumstances. And once again if you can’t say anything nice and helpful keep your mouth shut and if you don’t like the way that country is being run the pack your bags and get your ass out of Thailand.

i’m completely agree with you, that’s how i feel. I am join this group because my husband successfully get the visa to Thailand and i just want to share our experience to make a visa. Now after i join this group for less than a week, i’ve just find many Expat in this group are very bad attitude, try to put each other down and not encourage each other.

It’s put me off about the idea to help anyone.

I am leaving this group for good!

You will find a lot of twats on here, the xpats are the worse, their loving the boarders closed, 'Im alright Jack' attitude. I have a wife and son there not seen since December, the quarantine and now exspensive required insurance is making it next to impossible to return at moment. Maybe early next year things will change for the better. Sorry to hear of your cancer... hope u make Thailand soon, a beautiful country with beautiful people
Man ******
Thanks Mark and I am sorry that you haven’t seen your wife and son, this virus has certainly caused a lot of problems and heartache for so many. I can’t wait to get to Thailand and be in awe of its beauty and get to experience the kindness of the Thai people. And I will keep you and your family in my prayers that you will be reunited soon.

Hi alex,

You wont get in on a tourist visa! I rang the thai embassy earlier this month and was told no ring next month for an update, i also asked about the 90day visa and was told it is only available for people from the accepted countries list and that does not include the uk...

So im afraid at the mo its out of the question to go back!

I’m in the UK I’ve been issued my type O visa for Thailand. Flying out December 20th.

At the top right there's a magnifying class/search icon, best you search the question as it has Benn asked a shitload of times and you're really not going to make all these nice people have to write it again for the 1000th time?

Your first port of call should be the local Thai embassy, either call or look at their website all the information is there. We have neighbours who have families here or own businesses who haven't been able to get back yet.

Unless you are stinking rich or discover a Covid-19 vaccination little chance of anyone from the UK being allowed in.

He probably could. But unless he is not one of those guys who buys a boat to cross a river, he might also not be tempted to chip out 500k thb for a 3-6 month stay

I am getting really upset with this group. Why do you have to reply like a bunch of dickheads? Maybe people around the world are not following every visa advice and information that’s been giving here because they have better shit to do. So if they reach out here on this group for information it’s a real bummer you guys are reacting like this. Seems like some people in this group are just bored and bitter so you morphed into internet trolls. Just food for thought....

, they get off on it. Their deep seated unhappiness with themselves requires them to put others down to momentarily feel good about themselves.

Most of these guys living in Thailand for a long time are escaping from something, instead of going into something new

please don’t get me wrong- I feel them, same here. I was lucky to stay in Thailand. Haven’t seen my 76 old dad for ages, my new business here went to shit (hospitality) and the situation seems to be helpless 😔

But more than ever I believe that instead of bringing each other down we should help and support each other. It doesn’t make you more happy or less frustrated to leave a bad comment with someone who’s probably in the same situation and seeking for advice.

You would have to marry a Thai and get a visa based on marriage.. Other than that. You're out of luck. For the foreseeable future.
Kool *******
Currently there are no tourist visas for someone from France, as it is not a low risk country concerning covid-19 virus. But, depending on how far you made it through Le Cordon Bleu school, you might be able to get a short term event cooking gig, as the New Year is coming and Gourmet cooking is in demand, as guest chef, with set menu. You would still need to meet all the requirements to get a certificate of entry into Thailand, and do 14 days quarantine, at your expense. The top hotels are the ones to contact for this possibility. If your Michelin rated chef that is big, and desirable.
Steve *********
The difference is that one is for business and the other is for tourism. In both cases, please contact the embassy in your country and apply. Easy it ain't.

This stupid group became a place where idiots try to spread wrong infos. Check embassy page.
