Hi.

I wonder if someone could answer my question in simple language as I haven't been able to understand the answers given to me by others.

I'm in Thailand on a Non-Imm F Type, multiple entry visa, which cost me ยฃ125 in London before I arrived.

I understand I have to report to Immigration every 90days (or leave the country and re-enter), however I'm being told I need to pay 1900baht for single entry or 3800baht for multiple entry. I don't understand what these charges are for? Do I incur these charges every 90days? Are the charges only if you report to Immigration, or would the charges be the same if I leave the country and return?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a Non-Imm F Type visa in Thailand and is confused about immigration reporting and additional charges. It's clarified that with this visa, they should perform border runs every 90 days to receive a new stamp. The charges of 1900 baht for an extension and 1000 or 3800 baht for re-entry permits only apply if they choose to extend their stay or require a re-entry after leaving the country for a certain period. They are not charges for reporting to immigration.

You cannot do a 90 day report on your current visa. You can do border runs, getting 90 new days each time you enter. But, unless you get an internal extension, none of your stays can exceed 90 days.

The extension costs 1900 and will then allow you to stay until a certain date (date X), where 90 day reports must then be made. Extensions can be for up to a year.

This is your permission to stay.

If you want to leave the country before your extension, it's free. You'll get a new 90 day stamp when you arrive.

If you want to leave the country after your extension you need a Re-Entry Permit ~ 1000 for single entry, 3800 for multiple.

This keeps your extended, day X, alive. You can re-enter and that same date (X) will always be your permission to stay date.

If you want t

The ONLY way you could change from doing 90 day border bounces would be to take paperwork from what ever thai governmental organization to the immigration office and applying for an extension of stay for 1900baht. Extensions are issued for a year at a time, AND after you got the extension if you wanted to leave the country & come back you would need to buy a re-entry permit.

Once you have that extension you would report to the immigration office every 90 days but that is free to do.

IF you don't wanna go the extension of stay route, you border-bounce every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp.

okay, you have been told bad information :/

First off let's get some information, on the VISA in your passport what is the date of issue, the letter under the number of entries, and the "enter before" date?

IF you have a year long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type F visa, when you came into the country you were stamped in for 90 days. The way that visa works is you don't go to the immigration office at all. Instead you exit/re-enter thailand and get another 90 day stamp. You do this for the validity of the visa (usually one year from the date it's issued).

The other thing to consider is that if you have a yearly extension of stay, you still have to go to immigration every 90 days to report in. Thus, I agree with Tod and suggest you just take a little trip every 90 days.

correct (y) other than the cost of you getting out and back into the country as far as airfare, or getting to the border, and the cost of a visa for another country if you needed one

So, to clarify (sorry, probably me being stupid). If I (or my employer) goes to Immigration for my 90 day stamp it will cost 1900baht each time? But if i go out the country its free to come back in for 90days?

@Stacey ******
remember IF you get a yearly extension (or any extension) you'd also need to get a re-entry permit if you wanted to leave the country and come back (they are 1000baht for a single entry and 3800baht for a multiple entry).

If I were you I'd just stay on this visa as long as you can, and as long as you come back into the country before it expires you'll always be stamped in for 90 days.

One more thing, even if you stop working, no one can cancel that visa because they can't be canceled. So it'd be good until

/2018.

Thanks Tod, you have been really helpful. I'll ask if a yearly extension is possible, if not border runs may be the way forward (I've got to go to London in January anyway, so that should give me until April ๐Ÿ˜Š)

All extensions of stays at an immigration office cost the same 1900baht no matter the amount of time they're good for. Ask if your employer get you a yearly extension of stay?

I'd say you're way better off border bouncing every 90 days because that visa is good for unlimited entries into thailand with each entry being good for 90 days until the visa expires on

My visa is valid from
*****
/17 until

/18 (it doesn't have a "enter before"). Under no entries, it says multiple.

I've been told by my employer, that instead of leaving/re-entering, they will go it immigration on my behalf in order to get another 90day stamp, but this will cosy 1900 or 3800baht?
