Looking for help again! (smile) Extension expires march 15th. Looking for organizations/help to get a type O retirement visa quickly or to make a border run. Cannot get a Medallion signature here in Thailand so the funds I have available for depositing are not available in a timely fashion. I can prove monthly income of 65000 baht, however. Experiences and a few names of organizations that have success stories with my situation. I am in Bangkok. Marriage to follow but need a little more time. Thanks for thoughts in advance!

Do your visa run to Vietnam. They do not require financials -- only marriage certificate...check it out on the Thai Consulate site, VN they clearly list requirements. You can apply in the morning and get the stamps by next afternoon. They will require 90-day border runs, but it's a multiple entry visa. Good luck.

Here's an option.

Get married before the 15th March.

Then go to HoChiMinh and get a Single entry non O spouse visa. Dont need financials. And it will buy you time to sort out the 400k or 40k a month for a yearly Spouse extension. Being over 50 is irrelevant if on a spouse visa. As mentioned above, no insurance needed.

The two banks you can go to in Bangkok to open an account are the Krung Sri bank in Emquartier (they require a passport and a lease) AND the Kasikorn Bank at World Trade Center (which requires the same).

so you can prove you've transferred 65K baht per month each month into a thai bank account in your name only for the previous year?

I am well aware of that living here so long, but was urging others to keep trying if, at first--or more, they were rejected.

I already had multiple bkk bank accounts and thought I would open a "back up" account at another bank and decided on SCB.

I took along a thai friend who is close to fluent in English, just in case I needed language help of any kind-- I had, of course, my passport, in which is my "retirement visa", updated 90 day report stamp, etc. I had my thai driver's license, which has my address on the back, from a residency certificate when I got my license, I had my bkk bank bank books, and I actually brought a copy of my house lease, and my nearest branch rejected my application, why? they said I had to give them an Original copy of my lease--i went thru the new acts woman at her desk to the asst manager, to the manager--as I tried to explain that a copy of my lease was not even required per their own website ( this was more than 2 years ago) , and had not been required by bkk bank, let alone, they wanted an original signed copy. so ridiculous, and I did get more vocal with them than I usually might, but I gathered my documents and went to the next nearest branch and opened my new acct without any need for a lease, other bank books, my dr license etc-- so, as has been said again and again, when rejected, keep trying.

I just got the letter from the US embassy so I can open a bank account, so I obviously have not been making deposits. Do you happen to know if the US is a country that issues that affidavit? Takes a month to get an appointment. Guess I could send an email or see what I find online.

that's the only way to use 65K baht a month monthly income if you come from a country that doesn't issue the affidavit of income from abroad notary letters anymore.. :/
