Im in thailand now on a visa exemption for almost 30 days . I plan to go to vietnam and apply for a tourist visa from there. I want to stay in Thailand as long as possible so what are my best choice ? I was also in thailand almost 3 month in february to april 2026. What If i get a 30 day extention before applying for a tourist visa ? ( will i still get a 60 day tourist visa or will i be rejected )

As soon as immigration determines you are trying to stay here long term on tourist entries, they will refuse you entry, whether you bought a tourist visa, or not.

It is too late to try this pal; back in 2024 was better than now, unless you want to apply for an ED visa and genuinely attend classes, because they will test you every three months to see if you are really learning the language, and if you do not pass the interview, they will kick you out of the country.

If you are 50 or above your best choice would be to apply for a 90 day Non-O visa while you are in Vietnam. When you return to Thailand you open a bank account, deposit a minimum of 800k baht in it and once it's been there 2 months apply for a 12 month extension of stay

to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa outside of Thailand you either show 800k baht in your bank account or 3 months of income of 65k baht or more per month, you can use your home bank. To get the 12 month extension you can only show 800k baht in a Thai bank account

Edvard Aasen no, you need to show the funds. Although you can apply for a tourist visa and receive the Visa, it's up to the immigration officer at the border if they'll let you in or not regardless of having a Visa.

If the rule is max 90 + 90 day on a tourist visa per year maybe i get only 30 days on the tourist visa since i already stayed long time on the visa exempt this year? Im from Norway

there's no such rule. Every entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer you stand in front of and they tend to look back over your history for the the last 12 to 18 months and in that time if you've already spent 150 days or so in Thailand on tourist entries you are in danger of being denied entry. There's no such problem with a 90 day Non-O visa but there's not much difference between visa exempt entries and tourist visa entries
