Hi guys if i enter Thailand on a Visa exempt from Ireland which most likely will be 30 days in December and i decide i want stay longer.I know then I can extend another 30 days ,but can i i get or pay for a visa from within thailand if i want stay another 30 days?.Total of 90 days .I find that Thai e-visa site very hard .
Answer summary
A traveler from Ireland entering Thailand on a Visa exemption, which is typically valid for 30 days, can extend their stay by an additional 30 days at a local immigration office, but they cannot apply for a new tourist visa from within Thailand. It's advisable to obtain a single-entry tourist visa before traveling to Thailand if a longer stay of up to 90 days is desired. Current regulations suggest that the duration of the visa exemption may have changed to 30 days from 60 days, so verifying the latest information before travel is essential.

no, you have to leave and re-enter, you can do a border bounce at Ranong quite easily, depending where you're based

Visas are not given inside the country. Visas are given at an embassy. You can get your tourist visa from your home country embassy before travelling to Thailand. That will give you a 90 day stay including a 30 day extension

They been talking about reducing the 60 days back to 30days since early this year till it in the royal gazette for 15 days it then go back to 30 days myself cannot see it going back as they want the tourists to come to Thailand but if you not want to risk it get a tourist visa that gives you 60days and then go to immigration to extend for 30days giving you 90 days in Thailand

It has already been signed by the prime minister and submitted for publication in the royal on Thursday. Looks like Monday it will become law unless it takes a few days to publish.

if you find the Thai E-Visa Online application too complicated, use a Visa Agent in Ireland to appply to the 60-days single entry Tourist Visa Leisure for you. You cannot get a tourist visa inside Thailand. If you want to stay up to 90 days, then you need to get a single entry tourist visa before you travel, and buy the 30-days touristic extension on top of that for 1900 Baht

Denîse Pollard The Non-O visa is typically issued for 90 days initially, after which you can apply for a one-year extension at a local Thai immigration office if you meet specific category criteria.

Just google it ! :-D

Is it still 60 days visa exempt or has it changed to 30?

PassionatePeapod3239 as mentioned here in other posts, it has all been approved to reduce it to 30 days. They are just waiting for it to be published in the Royal Gazette. It is expected this week or next.

Get an SETV which gives you 60 days then extend by another 30 while in Thailand.

If I’m not mistaken, the Thai Cabinet has cancelled the 60-day visa exemption scheme (ผ.60). Foreigners from eligible nationalities will now receive a 30-day visa-free entry on arrival. However, you can still apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office, which costs around 1,900 THB.

MJ Jaruwan They haven’t published it in the Royal Gazette yet so it is not official. They are waffling there feet as usual since it is low season and not many tourists are coming. Once it gets to high season, they rejoice.. The tourists are back! Let’s make it harder for them to stay!

If they change to 30 days, you can receive extra 30. If it is 60, you can extend up to 90.

Yes, you can just keep adding 30 days until you want to go home. TBH I'm not sure why anyone bothers with a long term visa! Seriously, get an appropriate visa to cover your trip and save yourself a trip and a wasted to day immigration.

Alastair Phillip Patterson what a load of toss, currently you get one 30 day extension. So how long have you being doing 30 day extensions.
Alastair ********************

Graeme Drake yes it is a load of toss, the post was sarcasm but if you read the last sentence you'd get that.
Steve******
Steve******
Alastair Phillip Patterson that's not true. You can't add 30 days "until you want to go home". You get the 30 day extension exactly one time. The second time is a 7 day extension and then good bye.

It's not the correct answer. The question was, after having already had a 30 day extension, can you then apply for a new tourist visa from inside Thailand. The answer to which is, no.

I would just apply for a tourist visa before you travel to Thailand. It’s a 60 day tourist visa.
Brandon ************

No, you cannot get a tourist visa in Thailand. That is not what a visa is, a visa is for entering a country. If you want 90 days, then you would have to get a tourist visa before you travel, and get the 30 day extension on top of that.
Will *****

Only if you apply for a visa from the embassy. And you cannot get that inside of Thailand. So I'm not sure what you're referring to. The answer to the question asked in this post is no.

can you still get the sixty day from home country, then extend that for another 30 days at IO, and then walk in and out for another 60 days (2x30 days) making 150 days total, does immigration still accept that?
Deepak *******

Barney Ontour possible if the io thinks the pattern looks like a person is working illegally in Thailand,.he may be denied. In the USA if you do that, ice will put you behind bars for at least a few days to teach you a lesson.
Brandon ************
Brandon ************
@Barney *******
Theoretically, yes. But whether or not they let you walk out and back in will be at the discretion of the officer you are standing in front of at that time.

i live in a border town with myanmar, so it wont take me much effort to find out, i might take the old woman with me, she seems to get the odd wai everytime she comes down IO with me. Not sure she's gonna enjoy three nights in a myanmar port hotel with me, but i'll be prepared to get seven days and fly out a week later. Thanks for the advice )

@Barney *******
With a land border bounce agency you can literally walk out and back in. But most land borders no longer allow you to do this without spending at least 2-3 nights in the other country. I'm not sure how literal your question was, but things have changed a bit in the border bounce game, especially with the Cambodian border being closed.

ok thanks, i just wanted to check it was still feasible. I used to do it every winter and it would work perfectly now if you wanted to spend less than six months per yr in the country )
