TLDR : Answer Summary
If you don't want to leave Thailand to re-enter for a second year on your OA visa, your main option is to apply for a year extension based on meeting the financial and insurance requirements. It is advisable to start this process as your current visa expiration date approaches.

IF you're not wanting to exit/re-enter to get another year's entry stamp your option is to meet the financial/insurance requirements and apply for the year extension when this current stamp you're on is getting close to expiring

The financial requirements are

bank 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your yearly extension

OR

Transfer in a minimum of 65K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for your yearly extension

OR

IF your embassy issues the "affidavit of income from abroad" notary letter get that stating you have a minimum of 65K baht a month income from abroad.

You will also need to have a year's worth of the 40K/400K out/inpatient insurance from one of the 15 approved thai insurance companies authorized to issue O-A insurance.

Tod, do they strictly enforce the 12 monthly 65k baht payments into the bank account or have you known Immigration to approve with less (say 7 or 8 months)? Thanks.

Mix are allowed. You can put the difference in your bank account. If you received 7x65,000 for example, you can put 345,000 baths in your account.

This Combo Mix cannot be counted upon to be allowed depending upon which Immigration Office the applicant processes in.
