Hello, I am on an OA visa issued in the UK, can this be extended another year at immigration here or do I have to go through the Thai consulate in the UK again? Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An OA visa issued in the UK can be extended in Thailand for another year by applying at your local immigration office, provided you meet certain requirements, such as age and financial criteria. Alternatively, if your Non-OA visa is still valid, you may opt for a border run to re-enter Thailand, securing another year or the duration of your insurance policy, before the visa expiry date.

Are you on your first year or did you go out the country before the end of the first year and got the other free year?

OR

If your Non-OA visa itself is still valid and valid insurance policy, you can just do border-bounce to get the so-called second year entry stamp. You can be stamped into Thailand for a whole new 365 days (or the same period as your insurance policy) on or before the "visa must be used by" date on your eVisa PDF. Check the PDF.

You can apply for a 1-year extension based on being over 50 from the Non-OA entry at your local immigration office by meeting financial (800K thb in a Thai bank account) and insurance requirements.

Here is the general information for 1-year extension based on being over 50. You need to go to get the latest handout of their own requirements from your office.

thank you for your speedy response, when I applied for the OA I had to show proof of funds in my UK bank, for an extension would this not be ok?

@Keith ******
, no not okay. You need to have funds in a Thai bank account because UK embassy in Thailand doesn't issue an affidavit for your financial proof any more.

if you want to keep your funds in UK, you can go back to apply for a new Non-OA once your stamp is out.
