Hi all,

I'm married to a Brit who works for the British Embassy, so I qualify for a spouse visa. I have received the necessary letter from the MFA, but I can't find any clear info on exactly what else I need. No reply to emails from the Thai Embassy in KL (where I'll be getting it from), but managed to speak to someone who said "Yes, we issue that visa" and then put the phone down before I could ask for more info.

Anybody know what else I'll need ? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking additional information regarding the requirements for obtaining a spouse visa (Non-Immigrant Type O) at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. They have received a supporting letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but have not received any detailed guidance from the embassy despite attempts to contact them. Community members provide insights into the visa type, mention the importance of documenting the marriage to a foreigner working in Thailand, share personal experiences with the embassy, and express the challenges faced when seeking information about the specific visa category.

, I think I'm wrong and I stand corrected :O

In googling around at some of the criteria needed for a Non-Immigrant Type F visa at other thai consulates in the world; it lists "or immediate family members".

You may very well get a Non-Immigrant Type F visa because you're the spouse of someone who holds one already. (y)

Will do. The last person to do it, got an F from Penang, so we're assuming it's the same. I'll let you know though.

. I had heard they weren't the most friendly, but we already had holiday booked before she got the job, so thought we'd combine the 2 to keep costs down. She has a type F Multi Entry, which according to Immigration at Chang Wattana doesn't need an extension. It's good for a year because it's multi entry and I should get the same. That's why I was asking, because there's virtually no info on type F visas.

yeah, I don't think you will get the same. :/

She's on an F visa and unless I'm wrong all you can get as her spouse is a 90 day Non-O and then you'd apply for a yearly extension at the immigration office.

You would be applying for a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on being married to a foreigner who legally works here.

You need to meet these criteria

Be advised the thai consulate in KL is NOT the most user friendly consulate in S/E Asia to deal with.
