TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around whether it was a mistake to request a timeframe of 4-6 months for arriving in Thailand on a visa application to DTV. Comments from the community highlight that applicants are generally advised to submit their requests within a 3-month period prior to arrival to avoid complications, such as rejection or delays in processing. Overall, it seems best to align your application timeline with the 3-month guideline to ensure smoother visa processing.

If you put that on your visa application, most embassies will either reject it, or not process the application until you're 3 months away from traveling.

they ask you to only request up to 3 months before arriving, so just pick a date in 3 months

This. Travel plans change. If they ask for a booked flight, book a flexible ticket (always do so myself because I always book almost last minute and generally those are only available)

Why would it be a mistake? You have 5 years to come and go as you please

I thought some do not process if arrival date indicated more than 90 days out?

I think the workaround is to put a closer date then just arrive as you wish. There is no "Use By" date unlike the TR visas
