TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus from the community suggests that you should apply for the DTV visa at least one month in advance, but not more than three months prior to your intended arrival in Thailand. Some users expressed that applying too early can lead to issues, such as the visa start date being tied to the approval date rather than the travel date.

The advice from most embassies is that you should apply between 1 and 3 months before travel.

This is a South East Asian government. More time the better. Hard fast rule.

Don’t do it to early, I put my travel date as 22 April but approved on 17th and that’s when the visa started from, the approval date not my travel date.

I only lost a week, no biggie but I would be careful doing it months inn advance

lost a week!

If you left and came back in 1 week before it expires you would get 5 years 5 months and some change
