I am kiwi 69 years with weathered 800K in BKK BNK in own name. On Non Imm "O" -Retiement. + a current extension (expires March 27 2021) and 90 day onlne report (done 2nd Feb 2021). My current lease (Chuttachuk) expires 31st March and have now signed new lease for Nonthaburi. I have copies of the new landlords Thai ID, plus Tabien Baan data pages. New lease starts on March 1st when I will relocate. Landlady does no seem to accept her obligation to report so will self-register change of address when I shift. Processing-wise am I best to complete this before dong my new extyension? Or can they be done together?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is a 69-year-old expatriate from New Zealand residing in Bangkok on a Non-Immigrant 'O' retirement visa. He plans to relocate from Chutuchak to Nonthaburi after signing a new lease and is concerned about the correct timing for updating his address and applying for a visa extension. Community comments suggest that it may be more beneficial to apply for the visa extension at the new Nonthaburi location after the move, despite concerns about the requirements there.

I would have just GO and get a yearly extension from Chaengwattana before you move. , seeing as you had a 90 day report AND a Tm30 with your current address on it, they wouldn't have even asked for your lease.

Nonthaburi is a notorious fickle office (they make up imaginary rules, regulations at a whim), and after you get the extension you can fool with filing a change of address and filing a TM30

no, he should make his new yearly extension under the old and still existing address in CW, then a week later he moves and must file TM30 in Nonthaburi

do the extension first, and complete the TM30 and change of address after or on March 31. If the lease is not sufficient and you cannot self register, hand the Immigration officer the phone number of your landlady and have them tell her about her duties & obligations. It helped in my case.

Just to put Wayne's mind at ease, I have been using Nonthaburi Immigration for 4 years now. Documents to prove address, yearly extensions to retirement, 90 day reports etc. have been no problem. My last visit 3 weeks ago was quick, efficient and no trauma or 'puzzling' requests. Plenty of helpers around (staff) that made copies for me in house and the IO couldn't have been more professional.

Just to make sure, this is the immigration office for Nonthaburi province, and not MTT or CW ("Bangkok Immigration") that's located in Nonthaburi, correct?

Nonthaburi Immigration Sub-Division for the Province of Nonthaburi. Address is Bang Khanun, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi

. (up a small side road off Nakhon in Road). Gregor's suggestion to make his extension at CW is ok, just noting my experience at Nonthaburi immigration over the last 4 years that appears to conflict with Tod's view.

And I wouldn't say ONE word about you planning to move or anything, AND I wouldn't even bring the current lease (that expires end of March).

I was at Chaengwattana with a friend Wednesday and all he had was a lease that expired in May 2020 :O and they never asked for it because he'd been doing 90 day reporting and had the TM30 filed at that address (we provided copies of those)..

Thanks all. Will do the Extension first.

If you relocate in early March, better to apply for a new yearly extension at the new location (Nonthaburi). You may need a new lease for application for your new yearly extension application. You cannot use the address in another province.

I would suggest get it completed before your one year extension.

Lets see what

suggests as he is most familiar with CW immigration in Bangkok.

Thanks James for prompt response...Subject Tod's response, Will go Wattana on March 1 or at latest March 2 to register change of address. Then book my appointment for extension approval. I accept my forsy 90-day report will need to be done in persdon before returning to online reporting. You guys are fantastic. Thanbks so much for your help over the last 4 years.

@Wayne *********
you don't register a change of address at Chaengwattana when you LEAVE an immigration office, you only register it at the NEW office
