Will I need to show proof of 800K THB in my bank for the 90-day check if I already have an extension before March 1, 2019?

Quick question please and realise that from Ist March 2019 and it does not affect me as I leave 800K in my Thai Bank account. If one for instance one have already got their extension of stay and their first 90 day is before 1st March one can just do the reporting at Immigration, as before

In the future does one has to have yet another bank letter confirming the balance of 800K or higher at the 90 days.

Thanks to those who use Agents and sort out false bank statements and we all get tarnished with the same brush.

Thank all

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post addresses concerns about the 90-day reporting process for foreign residents in Thailand after new banking regulations were implemented on March 1, 2019. The initial inquiry clarifies whether individuals who obtained their extensions prior to this date will be required to show proof of an 800,000 THB bank balance during their 90-day report. Community responses clarify that those who received extensions before March 1 will not have to comply with the new requirements until their next extension application, which may require proof of funds.

It is NOTHING but a rumor that people believe that they will show proof of funds when they do 90 day reporting. What is far more likely is the first extension you get AFTER the 1st of March you will get a 3 month stamp and then when you go back in 3 months and show your bank balance you will get the remaining 9 months. I am guessing that it won't be until the following year when you apply for your NEXT extension that they will look back thru your bank book and made sure your balance never dropped below 400K baht.

Sadly, (for all of us) no one has any clue how it's really going to work until the first person gets an extension based on banked money on March 1st.

Tod any clue how in that case they would handle re-entry permits?

@John *****
we know for a fact that people who got extensions BEFORE the March 1st date when the requirements change will NOT be required to meet any of those requirements UNTIL next year.

You report that you stay 90 days inside Thailand. This is something else than the application of a new Extension of Stay. At the moment we only know that there is a Police Order starting from the 1st of March, mentioning that you need the 800.000 Thb two months prior your application date till 3 months after your application date on your Thai bank. There is NO information on how Immigration Office is going to check this. That it is going to be done with your 90 days report is nothing else than assumptions and rumors.

We only can wait and see how Immigration is going to check this new requirement. I guess after 1 March we will get the reports on this page.

Yes got extension no problem with the then usual 800k and updated on the day and then this issue. It depends on the Immigration office. and no did not get under consideration but the same stamp as prior years.

That was before this update.

Thank Bob.

My guess: When you apply for the Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age and use the banked money, you get a stamp Application under consideration, applicant has to visit this Immigration Office at ../../.. (90 days later to show your bank account again). I do not think Immigration is going to combine 90 day reports with financial requirements for some people using this way to get the Extension of Stay. This because you can do tis 90 days report, on-line, by mail, by authorized person or by yourself.

So no one knows yet and suspect that letters may well be needed from 1st March and yes no one seems to know.. ie 90 days when your 90 day reporting. Yes indeed no one knows as yet.
