I want to book a thai airways round trip flight from London to Bangkok departing October and the return trip 6 months later in April. I plan to get a 60 day TR visa. For visa and immigration requirements will that flight be OK as long as I show an onward flight out of Thailand after 60 days? Would they be suspicious, could there be problems?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether booking a round-trip flight from London to Bangkok, with a 60-day TR visa and an onward flight out of Thailand after 60 days, would meet immigration requirements and whether it might raise suspicions. Comments from other users indicated that as long as an onward flight is shown within the visa allowance, it should be acceptable. Suggestions included considering a multiple-entry tourist visa for longer stays and the need to demonstrate onward travel, either with a ticket or by booking upon arrival.

I agree with everyone's comments here. There's companies that sell you what's called an "Onward Travel" ticket really cheap if you are required to show a flight out of thailand

not immigration its the airline on checkin. You can always book in in the terminal as they are always sent to u in email form quickly

If you plan to be in Thailand that long, you will actually need to leave Thailand at least once. The 60 day tourist visa can be extended once, then you have to leave. You will need another tourist visa to re-enter. (Or enter visa exempt).

If you got the multi entry visa, you could do the same thing, but re enter on the same visa.

yes I do plan to leave and travel to another country a couple of times but only after 90 days. I will extend my TR visa for another 30. But I do need to show some kind of leave thailand ticket after 60 right even if I don't intend to use it?

yes. If you come exempt, your leaving flight needs to be within the initial 30 days. With the tourist visa, your departure flight will be within the initial 60 days. You can change the flight once you go through immigration. Or more correctly, once you have been granted an extension.

Onward travel requirement is to be within the visa allowance so, has to be within 60 days.

Why not get a multiple entry tourist visa and it’s the airlines that will ask

As long as you can show a flight out within 60 days, that should suffice.
