30-day visa exempt extension question:

I entered Thailand on April 1st on a American passport so it was a 30 day visa exempt entry. So I have to go to the Pattaya Immigration office n Friday April 29 to get a 30 day extension.

Do I need a TM30 receipt? If so, I don't have this as I am staying with a friend in her condo. Any advice??

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user entered Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption and is seeking to extend their stay at the Pattaya Immigration office. They asked if a TM30 receipt is necessary, given they are staying with a friend and do not have one. Responses indicate that some offices may not require TM30 for extensions, but experiences suggest that Pattaya does ask for it. One user shared their difficulty with Pattaya Immigration, mentioning that it can be helpful to check into a legitimate hotel for a few days, which would automatically handle the TM30. Ultimately, the user confirmed that the Pattaya Immigration office did request the TM30 during their visit.

So for everyone's info, the Pattaya office does ask for the TM30. My friend went with me and got it sorted it. Thanks.

My previous experience with Pattaya, they're a real pain.

I am a US passport holder with extensive Thailand experience in my passport, they may treat you differently than me.

My visa agents told me she would not be able to do my TM30, without a letter from the condo, in the past she was able to do it. Found a new place to rent got the ownership paperwork sorted out and did my own TM30.

When I tried to extend the immigration office gave me the run around, so of which was my own fault

First time, I needed to print out my e.visa.

Second time, I needed to extend last possible day of the visa. This seems to be Pattaya's normal practice. Kinda leaves you in a vulnerable position.

Finally I paid my agent 4000 baht to do my extension (that included the 1900 fee).

You can try to check into a legitimate hotel for a couple of days, they are supposed to do the TM30 for you. In the past (pre-covid) pattaya immigration was checking if people where currently checked-in to that hotel, so you will want to be staying at the hotel when you do your extension.

I've never been asked

Many offices don’t ask for a TM30 for a exempt extension. Some will. I don’t know if Pattaya will ask.

What other documents are needed? I'm in Samui, my landlord has reported my stay. I just want a 30-day extension from my visa-exempt stamp. I'm US citizen also. Thanks!

Copy passport data page (signed by you)

Copy of entry stamp (signed by you)

Copy of TM6 departure card (signed by you) *if you were issued one

Fill out form TM7 (available at the office)

Passport photo (most offices have facilities on site or nearby)

Some offices may ask for a filed TM30. Some won’t bother.

1,900 baht
