US citizen… is visa on arrival still a thing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
US citizens currently do not have the option for a visa on arrival. Instead, they receive a 'visa exemption' stamp, granting them a stay of 60 days upon entry to Thailand. This terminology distinction has led to some confusion, but it's important to note that while a visa on arrival requires application upon landing, the visa exemption allows for a straightforward 60-day entry without needing prior application. Travelers are advised to fill out an official form (TDAC) online before arriving to facilitate the process. Additionally, it may be necessary to show proof of sufficient funds when entering the country.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

There are differences, in particular Visa-on-Arrival is not 60 days. Read up - the Washington embassy has better web pages on this than other embassies.

yes it is.

For Thailand's Visa on Arrival (VoA), you need proof of sufficient funds, typically 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family, ideally in cash (Thai Baht or equivalent foreign currency

To this point at least the USA treats visitors just fine. So long as you enter the country legally. Come in illegally, and the treatment will be similar to,,,,, some other countries.

Im just suggesting that maybe Americans should have to show 5 years of their social media history, pay a $250 entry fee, and perhaps be detained occasionally for no apparent reason. A bunch of countries that are better than the US, including Thailand, should probably put a complete travel ban on US residents, while labeling the US as a "shithole country".

have you seen the UK man who was locked in Thailand for overstaying on YouTube? He was able to smuggle a phone in to take videos. It was nightmare conditions. Kinda cruel you want America to do the same, but understand your frustration with the hypocrisy how people respect other countries immigration laws but want open borders for the USA.

Even with a $250 refundable fee plus $185 for a 10-year visa, that’s incredibly cheap compared to Thailand.

On June 1st I paid $80 for a 90-day Non-O from the Thai embassy (wrong date on the passport), had to repay it—so $160. After three months I had to leave to Laos and re-enter, wasting $300+. Then I just did a family extension for another $60.

All together, for just 7 months in Thailand, I wasted days of my life and over $600 on immigration. Over ten years, Thailand is easily 20–30x more expensive.

Yet Thailand = good and America = bad? 😂

Yes, when you arrive you will get 60 visa exempt stamp. You can extend another 30 days at immigration (like an over crowded DMV in Hell…..5555). Fill out the new arrival form online to save time. Check the Thai immigration website for the format.

Many people will correct you to get the term perfect . The permission we get to enter The country is in fact a visa exemption for 60 days. It used to be 30.

No visa on arrival, but you will get a stamp for 60 day stay. It is called a visa exemption, not visa on arrival (terminology).
