TLDR : Answer Summary
The user questioned the validity of a travel agent's claim that Australians receive a 30-day visa on arrival in Thailand, insisting it was changed to 60 days. The consensus from the community confirms that since July 15, Australians now receive a 60-day visa exemption upon entry, which can be extended by 30 days. The conversation emphasizes the importance of staying updated on visa regulations and suggests that the travel agent may be out of touch with recent changes.

Travel agents are for people who can't figure out how to book a flight or hotel, they essentially look up Skyscanner like you can do and add 30-50% to the price of the flight, then look up Agoda like you can and add 30% to the price of the hotel....book your own flight and hotel, it's really not that hard .....

This is the DTV group, not the general visa group. Nevertheless, for the time being, there's a 60 day visa exemption, which may revert back to 30 days at some point in the future. I don't think the 60 day visa exemption is being planned to be permanent. It will probably stay in place for the remainder of the high season but could go back to 30 days sometime next year.

Change your travel agent if they aren't professional enough to do a simple Google search or even look up the visa policy of Thailand on Wikipedia, or even better, on the website of the Thai embassy in Australia, especially after you inform them they are mistaken. Also shows how seldomly this agent must deal with bookings to Thailand if they haven't kept up with Thailand's visa exempt policy change that has been in effect for several months already. Maybe find an agent more familiar with Thailand to help with your booking? Otherwise they are likely pulling travel advice from the same general googled sources as you could do yourself and therefore add no value to using them.

Neither. It's called a visa exempt entry stamp, yes upped from 30 to 60 days a few months ago, also eligible for a 30 day extension.

so you get 30 days on arrival or 60 days on arrival exactly like they said? They didn’t call it anything they just said you get it on arrival without a Visa.

It is called "visa exempt" and for Australians you now get stamped for 60 days when going thru airport immigration. Using the phrase "on arrival" is problematic as there is a totally separate thing called "visa on arrival" which is an actual visa that lasts 15 days which you apply for when you land but is not open to Australians (or any Anglo-countries) and has nothing to do with your situation. You are not getting a visa. You will just stamped when presenting your passport with a stamp entitling you to stay for 60 days. So your agent is misinformed.

why is anyone saying anything just give them your passport… he said on arrival he should receive 60 days. He didn’t say that he’s going in asking for a Visa on arrival.
