TLDR : Answer Summary
The 60-day visa exemption in Thailand is still valid as of now, with no immediate changes reported. However, there is discussion about potentially reverting back to a 30-day exemption, possibly by the end of the year. Current travelers have successfully obtained the 60-day entry, and there are indications that as of mid-April 2025, the exemption remains in effect. Users are advised to keep updated on any imminent changes.

Talk of going back to 30 day exemption, but no change as of now.

Will it apply to E-visas as well? They currently give 60 days with a E-visa, Will that also drops to 30 days?

The Tourist Visa is not affected by what might happen to Visa Exempt

I thought E Visa is just a system. Electronic visa application system, not a type of visa . 60 - 30 days is speaking to VISA EXEMPT ENTRY. It’s not a type of visa.

He’s meaning the news of it shortening from 60 back to 30 days I assume.
Doug ********

For what it’s worth I’m booked in Thai embassy in London in May for kids passports and when my wife made the booking she asked if I could do visa while we are there for our trip in July for 35 days and was told we won’t need one for then

Explained about the 60 day waiver dropping down to 30 days and again she replied we won’t need one for our dates

I’m hoping they are right 🤞🤞

@Denny ******
it's in the pipeline to drop to 30 days

Visa exempt but not passed yet I think it will be months yet ,if it happens.

Nobody knows

@Denny ******
yes they are right but from the first of may you need to do online 72 hours before you land in Thailand this replaces the old visor entry card they gave on the plane and also make sure your travel insurance covers you for the amount of days you are in Thailand have a great time it’s fantastic Hear people are brilliant and the food is best in the world

@Denny ******
You cannot get a Visa stamp at Embassies/Consulates any more anyway

I was gutted when they closed the Hull consulate as it was quite handy going there for me

I used the Cardiff Consulate, very easy

@Christopher ********
there was a notice the Thai government was wanting to limit the visa exempt status to 30 days. I come to find out alot ofnthings come out that never happen. I honestly don't think they are going to risk their tourist income like that

@Andrew *******
I also read that the gov is thinking of bringing the visa exemption back to 30 days so this is NOT a strange question at all.

The only people who can answer that is the Thai government, but they don't seem to know either.
