I am in Thailand on a 60 day visa exemption, but I'd like to extend it to 90 days.
I'd rather do things early than late, so I was planning to go within the week. However, ChatGPT (which is not always reliable) says to wait a bit as Bangkok immigration is very strict.
Is this true? Should I wait till January to extend, or just do it now? I thought it would be best to ask real people.
Also, it has to be done in person, right? I haven't found an online option.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption and wants to know if they can extend it to 90 days now or if they should wait until January due to concerns about Bangkok immigration being strict. Comments indicate that it is indeed possible to extend the visa by 30 days when there are 45 days or less remaining on the initial stamp. The extension must be done in person at IT Square Laksi Plaza and a TM30 showing registration is required.

Just so everyone is clear, you would be hard pressed to find WORSE advice on entry/visa/extensions to thailand than you get asking any of the AI programs out there ๐ฎ
It's because so much bad information is out there, when it data mines it uses the bad info instead (because it's been repeated so often)
Be that as it may,
In bangkok you can apply for a 30 day extension on your 60 day visa exempt entry stamp when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. To get a 30 day extension on a 60 day visa exempt entry you go to IT Square Laksi Plaza, you go in person. You need a TM30 showing you're registered as staying at a place in Bangkok
No need to run your stamp down, you don't lose any time applying early, they add the 30 days to your current stamp expiration date
