TLDR : Answer Summary
The community is discussing the uncertainty surrounding the potential reduction of Thailand's quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days, which was anticipated to be announced by the government on December 31. There is skepticism about this change, especially due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the emergence of new virus strains. Several users highlight that the government was not expected to make any announcements on the 31st and instead reference a timeline for assessing trial testing results between December 16 and January 14. Concerns about health, safety, and the social impact of quarantine measures are prominent in the discussion.

Highly unlikely at present just plan the 15 days if any reduction its a bonus.
yep got to go to work and Singapore still has quarantine from Thailand. You do what you got to do for prevention

You may want to invest some time in looking at the Thai news before you say things like that there having to semi close cities due to a hi rise of infections people here are starting to get really worried
in Oz , limited Thai news here , besides thai government is and always has been very careful about what they release to foreign news ...the sooner they realise there isn't going to be any tourists this year , and most probabley 2022 , the better for all ....my wife is Thai , and can't believe how these Burmese were allowed any where near Thai borders ...especially when you see the infection rate in Myanmar ...us dudes in quarantine are the least of their worry
they was allowed in so the greedy masters didn’t have to pay the the full wages plus I think there being used as a excuse because at first they was blaming ASQ then relived this who had it in ASQ they was Thais returned with out being tested
so many different stories , but it would be about someone getting monetary kickbacks 100% ...how much do you think the govt got out of the ASQ hotels for foreigners ? Some much corruption among the top , the normal Thai working race are blindfolded to it all
its not guys like you with local workers these people should be checking .. how stringent are their checks on the factory workers in places like Samut Sakhon etc ...again all about bosses paying to deflect from them ...its so pathetic
I deleted my comment. I'm sorry, while I found your question lacking in respect to the current climate, your question was legitimate and my response was rather unnecessaryly aggressive.

If you don't want to do quarantine stay at home , I'm hoping to come back to Thailand in March 15 days quarantine no problem, maybe every country should do the same,
start on 22nd January...no problem at all , but based on what was reported about a possible reduction , I was hoping it might be less ...and still we're going ahead even with all the "whole countries "in lockdown scaremongering
Jim , right since the start of quarantine, people have not been allowed to leave their room until testing negative after their 2nd test ....that is NOT AS A RESULT OF THE 2ND WAVE ... so I'll just accept your statement as BS eh
agree to disagree mate ...your calling it a second wave eh ?

maybe they should disallow people to drive their cars/trucks for a few days as well to save a lot more lifes than what covid takes! BKK would also be able to clean out the air as well!

Unlikely with more contagious virus strain now in the world.

Garrett Greenwald, there are 2 OR 3 other people that have offered decent information...it doesn't need any more than that ...
they didn’t say they would announce anything on 31st, what they said was they would trial the extra Covid test between 16-31 December, then they would look at the results between then and I think it was 14 January. But the way things have developed I’m not confident of things changing, also they just announced that people from Uk will no longer get an hour freedom per day until 14th day of quarantine due to this new strain of the virus
Why would they reduce quarantine when the country is closing multiple businesses, bars, restaurants, schools. Would it be the right decision for them to make during a second wave?
pretty sure there wasn't a " Second Wave " as you call it before they started the testing system with a reduced quarantine in mind ...that would have been a pretty silly thing to do , BUT , they tried to introduce a lot of BS schemes these past months ...
of course there wasn’t and that’s why they came up with the idea. Things have clearly changed since then so my point is reducing quarantine at this present time wouldn’t be at the top of the agenda given that Thailand businesses are slowly but surely shutting down
